After completing the ds260, can i send a portion of the Civil Documents now and send remainder later as i get them.

there was mistake in the marriage certificate...so i requested them to send updated one ...

however we have most documents already.. should we submit now... and then when we get the marriage certificate, then submit that?

please advise.

it's best to WAIT for the amended marriage certificate then sent it in with the rest of the civil docs... how long will it take to receive the new marriage cert? did you just apply for it?

NVC needs all your Civil documents together. So no point sending them separately. This will only add to their confusion. So you should wait until the whole package is ready and then ship USPS Express or Priority.

Make sure to attach the bar coded sheet on the top. Also do fill in your Timeline.

Yes you can send them separately. The NVC will checklist you for whatever is missing and you can send that when you get it. Either way it takes 20-30 business days to review each package or checklist. So the choice is yours.

We've just finished my daughter's DS-260. Can we just bring the documents (birth certificate only because she's a minor) to the interview or should we send it to NVC?

Definitely wait - they won't approve the documents anyway until they are all present and correct. You will just delay yourself further by them issuing you a checklist or even worse they could lose documents if they are sent separately (yikes!)

They won't lose them.

Besides, you should be writing the case number on the top of each document.

We'll be sending a copy of her passport's biographic page and birth certificate. we'll send it with a cover page so I think it will not be lost. Thank you for everyone who responded.

It's better to send all the documents at once to avoid valuable time being wasted.

It's also advisable to send a copy of the original along with the originals if your sending the originals. Because if they are asking for the original than they will keep that for their records, but if you attach a copy of the originals with your file they will return your original.

'll keep this in mind at all times for we have three cases at the uscis, two are approved now and currently at nvc. Thank you

I had this experience, sending, and sending...

Sure you can send before, but won't make any difference, so wait and send together

Trust me- they can lose them or mis-file them even if there is a nice little label with case number and petitioner name on it. It happened to my father.

I think you are the first person since I've joined the board who's had the NVC lose an original file. That's pretty good odds. Sucks when it happens obviously, but with over 50000 spousal cases alone (plus all the other family cases) it's bound to happen sometime.
