K visa applicants are encouraged to get the vaccinations required under U.S. immigration law for immigrant visa applicants. Although such vaccinations are not required for K visa issuance, they will be required when adjusting status to that of legal permanent resident following your marriage. Applicants are therefore encouraged to fulfill these vaccination requirements at the time of the medical examination. See Vaccination Requirements for IV Applicants for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.

You know there's only four possible shots for anybody over 19 years old?

Mumps/measles/rubella combo

Diptheria/tetanus/pertussis combo (one within the last 10 years)

Varicella -excused if he had chickenpox which most in the UK have had. They take your word for having chickenpox.

Influenza- Flu jab required only if his visa medical is during flu season. That ended Monday.

So most likely he only needs two shots to be complete for AOS.

Hep B is needed and requires a series of shots over a six month period of time.

Vaccine Schedule
The vaccine is readily available at your doctor's office or local health clinic. Three doses are generally required to complete the hepatitis B vaccine series, although there is an accelerated two-dose series for adolescents.

ExExpat - that is wierd - on my GC physical they just asked and wanted proof for the vaccinations that Nick-Nich has written. What you posted is a rather long list and quite few of the vaccinations do not even make sense for adults (i.e. Pneumococcal, Rotavirus). Oh, and nobody said anything about HepB being needed. But maybe it depends from state to state.

Hep B is not required unless you are under 18. Nich knows her stuff about the vaccinations needed for AOS.

It's been a long time since I was involved in the shot part of the process. So, how would you explain to the OP that the doctor is administering the Hep B series of shots to her fiance before the interview?

Not sure what you mean. I did not see the OP name HepB specifically to begin with. However, if panel physicians give HepB and all the others not needed for AOS for someone over 18, then I would assume they just want the money that comes from having to pay for the vaccinations. Civil surgeons try and do that in the US too. A properly filled out DS-3025 from a K-1 medical will show several vaccinations marked as 'not age appropriate'.

You have quoted every vaccination, but some are not age appropriate for adults and are waived for that reason. The chart from the Technical Instructions for Panel Physicians, showing age appropriateness, can be found here http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/vaccination-panel-technical-instructions.html#tbl1

Adults do not have to "catch up" by proving they had the baby vaccines. They only need the four which are age appropriate for 19 and over.

Note that the first two cover diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (or just diphtheria and tetanus) but have different strengths for children vs adults. A capital letter indicates a stronger dose, while a lower case letter indicates a lesser dose. Some adults showed an adverse reaction to the higher dosage for diphtheria and pertussis, thus the lower dosage for adults was created.

DTP/DTaP/DT -pediatric formula

Td/Tdap - adolescent and adult formula

The USCIS will accept the pediatric formulary or the adult versions for an adult patient.

Hey Corvus, I know you're out there somewhere. Can you clarify whether your fiance received the first in a series of three shots for Hep B? Isn't that what you were concerned about because he cannot get the last shot until six months from now?

That's correct he has received the first set of Hep A and B. Gets his second set next week and his third set 6 months from now.
