After talking some to my mom about the past family history made me wonder if anyone here is related to someone that was famous or has a interesting history. I remember my gmother talking about her family being related to Cole Younger an outlaw from the past and he in turn was also related to Jessie James. She said once when she was very young she can remember seeing them, but she has been gone herself for many years so who knows, maybe so.

I have successfully traced my family tree (maternal side) back to 1523 to Manchester England. . nothing jumping off the pages tho..

however.. my mothers cousin.. My favorite uncle... (second cousin) is kinda famous...

In his hayday.. he was a crane operator for Hollywood.. Universal and MGM...

he worked on Payton Place. Operated the mechanics for Jaws (original film) the Moses movie.. worked the water to make it part... Original Posiden Adventure.. worked all the cranes for the set.. mostly the elevators to make them raise and fall in closeups.. you know the glass elevators... But as a kid.. I was always most impressed when i learned that he operated the crane that hoisted Sally Fields in the air for the Flying Nun. ..

While on a short visit to Disneyland as a kid.. we stoped by his house one Saturday evening before heading home to Sandiego ... only to find he was having a small party.. whoo hoo. it was with about 5 cast from MASH.. most remembered for me was ALAN ALDA...

We have traced our family lineage to a 13th century painter who has paintings in the Louvre. I went and saw them...it was wild!

On my father's mother's side we trace back to Alexander Mackenzie, a famous Canadian explorer (from scotland) who discovered the Mackenzie River in Canada. On my Dad's Dad's side we can claim a general who started out in Napoleon's army and became finance minister in his government but then changed sides and opposed Napoleon in the end. On my Mom's side of the family, the biggest claim to fame is the guy who drove the first double decker bus into London England - everyone yelled at him to 'get a horse'!

Our family gets lost in the whole immigrating from Europe to Brazil thing. Apparently my father's side of the family moved from Germany to Switzerland (no, they were not jewish, it was way before that whole deal) changed their last names, and then came to Brazil.

I have never fully investigated but there are a lot of "supposedly"s.

Supposedly some of my family roots go back to some of the earliest pilgrims in the US like around the Mayflower time, from my grandma's side. Don't know if it's 100% true. But they moved here a long time ago. The rest of my family roots were still in Europe until the early 1900's.

Most people probably have no idea who this is, but we are supposedly related to an Italian opera singer (dead now) Sergio Franchi, from my grandfather's side, and the last name is my maiden name.

Ok here's another but it's not so exciting either. lol. My great-grandfather, before he immigrated to the US from Italy, was the driver for the mayor of Rome. But I don't know who the mayor was.

my mother's family is from NI and moved here between the 20's and 40's (40's when my grandfather came). somewhere in the mix my mother's rougue cousin (grandfather's sister's daughter) met some performer and at 19, got pregnant. ooooh did not happen in the early 50's, her mother raised the son, unbeknownst to the son. When he was 21, they revealed his sister is actually his mother. he disowned my side of the family and gravitated toward his father's side.

that kid was jack nicholson. and yes, according to my mom he IS that weird.
