Fellow Indian's,

Any idea when passports are ready for pickup/courier after interview from Mumbai embassy? I have my wife's being delivered to Blue Dart in Vadodara. I'm hoping its less than 5 business days.

This is my first time posting on Visa Journey, although I have certainly received great information over the past year through this long process. My wife got approved for a conditional expedite (meaning they would expedite the case once all documents had been received) on March 26th and our case was complete on April 10. It appears the embassy has received our case as of yesterday since our visa status is now READY. However, since we were expedited we do not have an interview date yet. My questions are 1) Should I be calling the embassy to schedule the interview, or will they contact us? 2) Since we were granted an expedite by the embassy for the NVC, will we receive an expedited interview or do I need to re-apply for an expedited interview? Should I be "living" on ustraveldocs to schedule the interview ourselves. I appreciate any and all comments

No. I filed my I-130 last July 2013. It took me 9 months for the whole USCIS and NVC process. I didn't put the USCIS process on my signature. It's just the NVC process, starting on the date they received my case.

I think you will want to contact the NVC first.

Just wanted to thank you for leading me to that online form! My husband sent in a request on Friday and got a new interview letter by mail today moving his interview up from May 28th to May 8th :) He had had his medical done back in February when we found out our case number... so that helped us out. Good luck to you!!! Just know, if they change your date, expect something by snail mail not in your inbox; and their turnaround time is superfast!!!

Gald I could help - I have rescheduled my medical for next week (Thursday) - but we have decided to stick with the interview date of 23rd May as my step son is coming th the UK on the 15th and we are then going to Spain straight away for a fishing trip, so even f the embassy gave me an earlier date for the interview i may not get my passport back in time to go to Spain!! ARRGGHH!! So we have all decided that it stick with the firm dates we have.

Hope all goes weel with your hubbies interview - I'm sure it will.

Nope your last fee will be $165 you pay online at ELIS after interview up to a year to pay. You will get all information on that when you pick up Visa.

Unless your embassy has delivery charges of your passport/Visa no more fees.

thanks dwheels76

Unless your husband falls into a special exemption categories, he has to file either an extension, or a tax return by April 15. I suggest he should look into filing an extension (extends the deadline to Oct 15) asap. It's a very short form and it would only take him about a minute to fill it up. He can put 0 in the amount owed field. You can use the extension form as "proof" that he filed taxes for 2013.

Not related to immigration, there's actually a significant $$ penalty for not filing by April 15. Hope that helps.

thanks for the info :) what if my husband is like planning to have his taxes filed when im already with him with my SS# and willing to pay for like more or less 2 months of penalty. he didn't file for an extension or etc. but he's income is way over 125% of the poverty line. would the W2 and paystubs be enough? or the consulate would really look for it? my man is just sometimes a hard headed guy :) he said he haven't had any problem filing taxes before not until we got married LOL. anyways with our P4 email we didn't even have any checklist etc.

It is not a good idea at all to buy the tickets before receiving the Visa in hand. You can never tell...

we know that. its just sometimes you just wanna be there already and be with the person you love (even without having a visa  ) LOL

Hi M&M01! Wow Its nice to know someone with the same anniversary date. Good luck with your interview. I think its normal to feel nervous about interview. I know exactly what you are feeling right now.But don't worry too much, its still possible for you to be together on June 1. They issue the visa the next day,and so people usually received their visa in like 3-4 days. But my husband received his visa 7 days after interview because his interview happened to be on a Thursday. So it took longer for him, and then April 9 was also a holiday. Just hope and pray that you passed the interview and dont get a delay on your case. Be sure to bring all the documents that was asked from you. Also, just be prepared and bring an updated I-864(affidavit of support form) with 2013 tax transcript or tax return form + w2. Bring also a CEMAR certificate just in case they ask.

In regards to my husband's interview, they only asked for my updated I-864. Also there is no fee to pay during interview. Its after your received your visa then you'll find instruction about a fee for your green card.

just wanna ask again, so your husband didn't even ask for you 2013 tax transcript or W2 or even the tax return form??? its just the updated I-864???

For those who have an idea..im just confused.. My husband mailed the corrected checklist on the 9th they havent received any document this week or las week. How long would it take for a checklist to be placed in the system or would they really placed it in the system even if its just a response to checklist? Is this still a normal timeframe?
