Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: F-2A Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 4, 2015
Embassy Review : My Interview was on 18th March. Sorry for the late review posting, but I received my passport with Visa today only because I was in AP after interview.

My appointment for Interview was of 8.30 at Mumbai Consulate,India. We reached there by 6.45 am itself. There were queues for immigrant and visitor visa. I was allowed to enter in consulate at 8.00 am. Attendant at entrance checked my passport and interview letter and asked me about fingerprint and medical,Is it cleared? I said yes. And I was In.
Then, i was directed to go in section where only immigrant's interview was arranged. There were total 17 Counters/windows in that area. As soon as I entered, I was asked to follow the direction for Counter 1 where token numbers were issued. A lady asked for passport and interview letter. I gave it. She stamped bar code of token number on interview letter and asked me about language preference. I am Gujarati but my preference for interview was English,so I said so to her. Then she told me to wait and look over monitor for my token number to be displayed along with counter number where I should go.
I kept on waiting for about 15-20 minutes,meanwhile one girl came and arranged the docs of all people to be interviewed one by one,in order of token number given. She asked me for Interview letter, Passport, Birth certificate English and Gujarati both, Marriage certificate, PCC, DS-260 confirmation Page & Medical report and put it in sequence. Then, after few minutes,my token number reflected on monitor with counter number 7. I went there,an Indian officer was there. I gave him all arranged documents. He asked me few questions like;
What is your name?
Who is petitioning you?
Where is your husband right now? He is India right now since 5 weeks.
What is your occupation? He ask for new tax transcript..i gave it. He took all my docs and passport too. He gave me a Pamphlet of Domestic Violence to read during waiting and explained about green card fees to pay. And returned all my original documents submitted at NVC.
Then I waited almost 1 hour and 15 minutes for my interview with American CO because all other applicants were having Gujarati as preferred language and very few were there for English. Around 10.45 am, my token number refelcted for Counter 11. I went there with all docs and marriage photo album.
CO greeted me first, and the n i too.
CO: Hello Pretty lady
I: hello,Good morning,sir.
CO: Who is petitioning you?
I: My husband
CO: How did you meet?
I: Its love marriage, were living in same street since childhood
CO: What your husband do in America?
I answered.
CO: When was your marriage?
I answered.
CO: What do you mean by Domestic violence & what is its purpose?
Thats it!!!!
Then he kept on typing something in his computer and bring one print copy and gave it to me along with my passport. I was shocked..its 221g-AP!
Then CO tell me to submit new joint sponsor along with passport. I told him that I have already submitted joint sponsor. He explained me that your joint sponsor has already sponsored 16 people up til now and 5 household size and you,so its 21 people! His income is not enough to afford these many people. I told him that my joint sponsor has not sponsored anybody in last 2 years and responsibility rest up to 1 year only. So, CO explained that No, Sponsor's responsibility rest upon him for all immigrant coming to US until they get citizenship and not for only 1 year. My joint sponsor was having millions of property but he didnt get convinced. He told me that I do not have any doubt with your case. Its perfectly fine. You just submit a new joint sponsor and I will issue a Visa. Then he returned my passport and 221g white slip to me and told to submit new joint sponsor and passport in nearest drop box of VAC. He took all docs which I gave to Indian officer,Medical too.
I was a bit depreseed!

Journey thereafter:

Arranged a new joint sponsor with small household size and with a very good income. He has not given sponsor to anybody yet.

Submitted New joint sponsor and Passport along with supporting docs: 30 March 2015

Kept on checking CEAC status every hour then after.
Status update date changed from 18 March to 31 March 2015
CEAC status changed to ISSUED: 1 April 2015.

So I got visa so promplty after submitting asked docs, just in 3 days. I was so happy and today-4 April 2015,I have collected my passport with visa and envelope.
Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much to everyone on this thread who has always been so helpful in each phase of this journey. It has never been easy to go through this 22 months so comfortly without visajourney.com!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
