How did you manage to get so much info? I have repeatedly been told that detailed info cannot be released.

You would be surprised how much they want to talk. I called NVC every day at least twice daily from the day I got NOA2 May 29th, 2012 until my petition left the NVC March 11, 2013. Yes 10 months later.

Even called DOS who really schooled me on interview scheduling. All I have learned has been nice knowledgeable folk at USCIS and NVC. If you sugarcoat and praise them and let them know how much you appreciate them you will be surprised what you can find out.

I told them I didn't want my original marriage certificate sent over to embassy I needed it in my hands. They mailed it back to me when they were done.

Many many of these people we talk to and think they have no clue have gone through this themselves and know all too well what we suffer. And yes some are mean hateful scrooges who need an enema real bad.

I have an urgent tax related question. If anyone knows the answer it would be a massive help!

My wife is filing a 1040x amendment for her 2013 tax return because she was given incorrect advice by IRS back in January when they told her to file as single as I dont have a SSN. She is changing it to Married filing separatley.

When I put NRA (non resident alien) in the SSN box is it ok to leave spouses name blank?? It says "if joint return, spouses name"....

This is a separate return so leads me to believe the name part has to be left blank.

If anyone knows the answer, please let me know!

Why is she amending now. She will have to amend the amend when you get their right.

And for MFS you do put spouse name and leave blank.

Just file the extension. So much easier since you have to do this again and soon.

hello dwheels76 i had my interview last monday which was April 7th and after being asked so many questions the consular officer handed me my passport back and told me to wait for a phone call within 2 weeks and she did not give me any 221g or any form and which i checked the CEAC website it is still stating READY which i don't understand what this could mean is it an AP ? please if you can help me with any kind of informations i would be appreciated or you seen any case before had the same situation as mine and what was the result.

It would help to know your embassy to know if this is a norm.

Not a good sign they giving back the passport, but I guess call or email too see what they say. Keep an eye on your Visa Tracker status. They may not have updated yet. It's not always immediate.

Sorry you have me confused now lol

Let me explain. My wife filed as single back in January because she was given incorrect advice and was told there was no way to file as married. So she filed her 2013 tax returns as single in Jan. We then found out that we HAVE to file as married and filing single when married is illegal with IRS. So we are amending to Married Filing Separately and putting NRA (non-resident alien) in the SSN box. This is correct as things stand and as I said it cannot under any circumstance be single. It may not be a problem in terms of immigration interviews but it could be a huge problem if IRS found out the status was incorrect.

What do you mean we have to amend again soon? Are you talking about when I get a SSN? Surely this can wait until 2014 returns as during 2013 I never had a SNN.

Uh Oh checking in here - My Wife's interview is on May 29th.

I have filled as single and got my return etc, as per everyone's suggestion that I consulted. This will not hold up the interview / immigration process right?

This incidence happened to my dad before. My dad paper was forwaded to the fraud department. The fraud department handled my dad paper for another 6 years. My dad thought lost hope already and accept that he will never come to US. My dad was called 3 more times to the embassy. But they did not gave my dad any clue of whats going in. after six years He just received his visa. with out anything. maybe they did investigation or something.. I hope this is not your case.
