We are filing for AOS. I am an F-1 student, maintaining my legal status. We need help with form I-864. My USC wife did not earn much as we moved to CA. She got divorced in 2013(from her USC US born Ex). SO, we are below the 125% limit. I understand that she has to file I-864, and we do need to get a joint sponsor. She used a lot of money from her retirement which consequently has led to be taxed for penalty. Will my wife has to include her this year's tax returns and W-2'S(it is very less, will that make our case look weak)? She has assets in retirement. My wife started working on her new job very recently(last month). Will she also has to provide her W-2's from her current job as well?

We are planning to be jointly sponsored by her friend who files taxes jointly with her husband. Her friend is a stay at home mom but her husband earns good. Will both she and her husband have to file I-864 or will any of them have to file I-864 also? What evidence will they have to provide apart from their US citizenship? Tax Returns, 1040 copies, tax transcripts(BTW What is the difference between Tax returns and transcripts?) Will my wife has to show proof her financial assets?

If her friend is a stay at home mother and earns zero she doesn't qualify as a joint sponsor. Just because her husband qualifies doesn't mean she does just because they are married. He will have to be the one to be your joint sponsor

Thank you.....can alimony from the former spouse count? If yes, what evidence do we have to attach?
