Hey folks!

I'm putting together my K-1 i-129f package to be sent to the Dallas Lockbox. I had already put together most of this stuff using VJ in October of 2013. A few delays in our personal lives meant that we had to push back the date we wanted to file but we're ready now.

I double checked all of my existing forms and procedures so that I can ensure that the mailed package is complete and won't contain any reason to be RFE'd. But my question now is, I'm not sure what the check should be written out for anymore. On my cover letter, I have written under item 1, "Payment for the amount of $340.00 USD", but now upon looking at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/fees-visa-services.html, it's saying $240?

If anyone could help clarify this for me or point me in the right direction that would be fantastic :) Thank you all.

What Is the Filing Fee?

The filing fee for a Form I-129F is $340.

You are reading about the $240 visa processing fee that is needed when applying for the K-1 visa.

Thanks for your help so far guys.

I'm confused as to when the $240 is paid. If I'm paying the $340 when sending off the initial package, when precisely is the $240 due?

Is there a fee schedule somewhere that breaks down exactly what is due and at what stage in the process?

After the I-129F petition is approved, the foreign fiance(e) will be able to apply for a K-1 visa at the US embassy/consulate in their country. There is a $240 visa processing fee in order to apply for a K-1 visa. You will need to pay that then, before the interview. Here is the flow chart > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

You can also go ahead and research the K-1 visa application process for the consulate you will use. There is most likely info online at the US embassy website about how the process works for your particular consulate and what will be required. There are 2 that process K-1 visas in Canada > http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Canada
