Hi Everyone,

I am a k1 applicant and I booked my Inreview appointment in Montreal on May 20, 2014 and thats the earliest booking that I got from the consulate. My question is my Approval Notice will expire on April 3, 2014 is there any problem with that or do I still need to inform the us consulate in montreal for my case. Please help!

From what I've read, since they were the ones to book your interview that far off, you shouldn't worry. They know everything about your case because they have your files, so they're supposed to know when your NOA2 expires. I know a couple of girls who had their interview after their NOA2 expired and that wasn't a problem at all. However, I do think you should contact them just to make sure that's correct.

K-1 Timeline:

September 30, 2013 - Sent I-129F package

October 10, 2013 - NOA1

November 8, 2013 - NOA2 (No RFE)

January 6, 2014 - Got my case number by e-mail
January 15, 2014 - Found out when I'm having the interview
February 21, 2014 - K1 interview. Approved! Yay!

Our NOA2 notice expires today. I emailed the consulate a week ago and they replied back that they will "re-validate" the petition for an additional 4 months. I don't know if it's automatic or not, but for your peace of mind just email them & ask.

Embassies can extend the validity of NOA2's for periods of 4 months, up to a year. Just contact them about it. You're good for the May interview. :)

Did you have to book your own interview or did that date come with your packet 4? Seems that is really far off. USCIS said that wait time is 2-3 weeks for cr-1.

All K1 in Canada book their own interviews. They can move them around as well if they find a date that's closer or need a date that is further away. CR1 normally get one that is 2-4 weeks out and we do not book our own date and cannot change them without extreme hassle. However for Montreal, we also get the prime dates initially.
