My mother in law was just turned down for a B2 Visa, I assume she did not have enough proof for the consolate. Can anyone give me some examples of documents that a successful B2 Visa was approved. Does anyone bring photos of family or other stuff.

Any help would be great...we want to apply again..hopefully with more documents...(biggest problem her mother doesn't work)

She can only document what she has.

For example a well paying job that she would be foolish to abandon.

It's about all the ties to her country that would make her come back. You showing pics of you and America and everything in America, grandkids makes it look like "why would she even want to come back".

What of husband, land, children still back home. what can she show as a tie she needs to wants to come back.

She doesn't work.

Not a good sign.

Her husband works, they own a house (not an expensive house). Her son lives nearby with his wife and grandson (12yrs old).

Did she have all this evidence at interview. Having a husband and child still in country is a good tie.

I know they asked if she was married..but I don't think they asked about any other childern she had....I am fairly certain she didn't sell herself very well at the interview. It happened last night so I don't have the actual denial reason. But I assume its the lack of evidence.

The docs are easy and don't do that much good. These tourist visas are difficult to get as we see here on V J many times.

The problem is always the same. Ties. She has to be helped in presenting to the embassy her exact situation which should make it clear that she has no intention of replacing her lifestyle with something totally different.

They would know about the Husband and Child anyway. She would have had to tell them.

No limit to the number of applications she can make.

90% of the time the consul doesn't ask to see documents anyway. On the interview where I got approved I didn't even bring any documentation with me.

HOW she answers questions is more important. Being confident and relaxed can make a world of difference. Tell her to apply again after a few months if she wants to and tell her to calm down during the interview and just focus on the reasons she has to go back home and not on why she needs to go to the US.

Thanks...I was thinking the same thing..she told my wife she was ready to go back...I think she is confident she can do it now. The DS 160 doesn't ask about her childern or grandkids...so she never talked about it, they only asked if she was married.
