I almost forgot to pay the immigrant fee so just did 2 days before departure. The case status is in process, I assume this is all I need for departure for my wife. Also the name on the 551 is her maiden name, will they put her married name on the green card? Her passport is still in her maiden name so the 551 had to be filled out the same as the name on her visa/passport.

Thanks for any info!

It wouldn't have mattered if you forgot to pay the green card production fee before departure. Despite what it says on paper, that fee can be paid after arrival.

No

If passport and visa is in her maiden name, you should fill out the i551 like so and the GC will also bear the same (maiden name).

Huh, so she will have an ID for 10 years with her maiden name...hope this does not result in future complications. such as when she renews her Philippine passport in her married name and the GC does not match. Also curious that with a green card is she free to come and go from the USA as often as she wants. We will probably come back in a few years maybe even to live again once I get over the frustrations I have had in Manila the last 3 weeks

Yes she can travel as long as she spends more time in the USA than out of it. If the green card and passport names do not match (such is the case in renewal of passport or when a person does ROC from a conditional green card) you can travel with your marriage certificate as proof of married name. Inside the USA it shouldn't be an issue as she can use state ID or the green card to travel, but outside of the USA you should book the ticket in passport name.
