Hi,

We (husband and I) plan to submit his application Monday. I was just curious if anyone has sent their application express USPS. It looks like kennypham might have sent yours express I was just wondering if they accept it that way and/or does it speed up the process by a few days or not?

Thanks, just curious!

It only speeds up the time it gets for your package to get from you to USCIS. It does not speed up USCIS' process of reviewing your application. But yes, you can express-mail it to them if you wish.

Personally I used a USPS-provided flat rate priority mail envelope (the paperboard kind). The envelope is free, postage costs less than $6, and it usually gets delivered from anywhere to anywhere inside the 48 contiguous states within a couple of days.

You need to send your form to the Dallas USCIS lockbox if you live in New York and are not in the military or a military spouse.

http://www.uscis.gov/n-400

I'm not sure why you think you need a lawyer to fill out your the application if you filled it out on your own the first time.

I don't know for sure, but I assume that the application you sent to the wrong address will either be returned to you or ignored.

What you need to do is fill out the application and send it with the correct fee to the address on the link above (this is the address listed in the n400 instructions). If you follow the instructions in the document on that link, you shouldn't need a lawyer unless your case is especially complicated.

If you want to double check you're legibility or anything else, read the naturalization guide as well.

Ok In my mailed application I did include my $680.00 processing fees and all my documentations but why do I have to send my stuff all the way to Dallas when it has offices in NYC? I am just confused in which one of the home land security dept to send it off too. I googled it cause I did not see a physical address on my application form, thanks for the info but I am stil lost and confused. Please be precise with me I feel so confused right now thank you. Xo

That's just the way it works. It goes through a central processing facility and is later dispatched by internal courier to your local field office. Let them worry about that.

Now what I don't understand is why you're confused on where to send your package.

Go to http://www.uscis.gov/n-400 and read the instructions, I believe they are very clear.

For example, if you live in the State of New York and have nothing to do with the US military, the address to mail your application to is:

USCIS

P.O. Box 660060

Dallas, TX 75266

If not using the United States Postal Service (e.g. UPS or FedEx), then this is the address to use:

USCIS

Attn: N-400

2501 S State Hwy 121 Business

Suite 400

Lewisville, TX 75067

There are different addresses for different applicants.

There is no need to be confused or to Google anything. The instructions tell you to mail your application to one of two addresses (see the link Shub and I provided) if you are sending it through the post office, you send it to the first address. If you are using UPS or FedEx, you send it to the second address. Since you live in New York, you have to send it to Texas - that's what the instructions say and that's what everyone who is applying from New York does.

The reason you need to send it to Texas is because there are only three receiving centers for N400 applications in the country and New York applications go to Texas. They don't have a separate receiving center for each state. To avoid confusion though, the REAL reason you have to send it to Texas is because that's what the instructions tell you to do. Don't forget to include the $680.

If you're still unsure about anything, feel free to ask.

Do I have to mention foreign address on Part 4? As I have visited few countries in last 5 years.

Thanx

It depends on how long you stayed. If you were there long enough to establish a residence address then you must have changed your address with uscis. I think (not sure) less than 180 days is a "visit" and not a residence.
