Just called NVC to clarify something about PCC required from India, She told me, "DO NOT send the Police certificate to the National Visa Center, your wife will bring that to Mumbai during her interview." I told her that the websites say PCC is required to be sent to NVC, she then tells me, "Sir, I am trying to help you, DO NOT send that to NVC, it will cause delays."

Anyone here ever hear of this?

Thanks for giving good news I have been confused about this coz if we wait for police certificate it will take another 20 days so it saved our time. Thank you very much for good news

I wouldn't be rejoicing just yet..I just came across a similar post somewhere on visajourney:

"Hi..

i was also confuse abt sending my PCC or just wait until my interview..so i called NVC and the lady told me that don't send it with DS-260 or DS-230 cuz Mumbai consulate doesn't require to send pcc with DS-260..so i sent everything else but not the PCC..after couple of weeks i got checklist saying iam missing my PCC..so i sent it afterward"

i send a notarized copy, just because i was scared to send the originals. notarized copy is the one a notary/attorney notarized from india. they accepted mine.

gazetted officer is not acceptable.

I send notarized copies i.e from a public notary. They accepted mine. It is ok for India.

Thanks. I am planning to get the birth certificate notarized by a public notary (in Hyderabad) as you suggested. Can not take the risk of sending the only Original Birth Certificate by mail to NVC.

Will carry the original to the Interview in Mumbai.

Hope this works...

Called NVC today. No Case #, IIN yet.

The PCC(India) is just an one hour process which requires no prior appointment at the passport office.

All you need is the passport,a copy of first two and last two pages.

The passport will be stamped stating the PCC and you also get two copies of written confirmation.

I did mine last week.

PCC is absolute MUST to send to NVC. You dont send it, they will serve you with a nice checklist. It will delay your case again by 1 month.

Which PCC office was yours ? My wife had to take the appointment online, then wait 40 days to get the PCC. PLus she had to submit all kinds of documents to establish eligibility. It was a totally screwed process. I am talking about Hyderabad.

guys i just have a question. is it really normal that NVC used Beneficiary's name even on their instruction? because, they used my maiden name instead of my married name. and ill be printing out that email from NVC for my advance medical next week. my name on all other documents are all in my married name. why the heck NVC still use my maiden name. it confuses me. that they might use my maiden name on my visa or Green card???
