Hello, I am a US citizen living in Texas. My fiancee and I are planning to live and stay in Texas once she gets here, but her family would like us to get married as soon as possible before we live together under one roof. Can we get married in other states such as NV? I have heard that NV doesn't ask requirements for a marriage license from a non-citizen. We would like to get married in a legal way.

huh? the wait time in Texas isn't that bad, between

applying for a marriage license

and being issued a marriage license.

what's up? Texas is 72 hours - see

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Yes, I know about the 72-hour wait in Texas. However, my fiancee's family is old-fashioned and they will not let her live with me if we're not officially married. Another reason is our relatives are living in Las Vegas and some are from Vancouver, Canada.

so engage with the officiant to provide chaperone services (through someone else or another family). All of the parents and relatives will understand this.

Meet your fiancée in Las Vegas. You can can get married the same day. Check out the Clark County, Nevada website for details and for pre-registering for a marriage license. Have a blast!

Yup you can get married in NV... do the Elvis Chapel even ;)

You may want to jump to the NV (Clark County) website to get details of requirements, which I bet are much.

When I married my husband back in 2008 we married in Vegas with just our ID cards. We paid the fee and all he had to do was show his passport and I showed my ID. WE paid the fee and walked across the street and married. Easiest way to marry

Good luck

You can ask for a waiver of the waiting period for the marriage license. All I had to do was present my passport and that's all I needed. They prepared the license and within an hour we went to the court house and the judge married us with no problems.
