I can confirm that if your interview is going to be in France, you don't need to translate your french birth certificate, neither for the NVC, nor for the embassy interview :)

If it can be useful to others, I didn't translate my wedding certificate either by the way, I just gave them the ''acte plurilingue'' that you can ask at the Mairie.

Other than that, some updates for the ''after part'', I arrived in New Jersey on the 3rd of October, I went to the social security office about 3 weeks after arrival, because even if I ticked the box to get the number automatically, I never received it.

I think that might depend on states, and the officer in front of you, but they might be making you wait a certain period of time before giving you a number, I was there about 28 days after arrival, and I had a paper that I received with my visa stating that after 30days if you still don't have the number, you can go to the office, and that was the only reason she generate a number for me.

I paid the green card fees mid september and still have not received it, but it says that I can inquiry about it only after 120 days.

Good luck to you, you are all almost there now :)

Hey Guys,

Small (probably stupid) question: we are gathering all the documents for NVC. Our lawyer (since we have a lawyer that I would be happy to drop but my husband wants to wait) said I should prepare a pdf of my passport "cover and any pages with stamps". Is that accurate? I always thought it was just the page with photo, name, etc.

Bonus question: you confirm it has to be less than 2MB for each pdf?

Thanks,

Alix

Don't really know why the lawyer is asking for the pages with the stamps...

NVC website is quite clear about it. (I got confirmation it is 2MB max for each doc). 2050803207_Capturedecran2019-12-14a10_20_19.thumb.png.92bdae88e8b8eb9f36c29a477c1e4311.png

In my opinion, you don't need the pages with the stamp at this stage!

You could have provide them in the first step of the process with the I-130 to show that you visited each other, or the same place, but you don't need that for NVC. I never provided the pages with the stamps.

Yes, thank you. Also the NVC website is quite clear - it is just the main page.

I am concerned about 2 things : he (the lawyer) is asking about the pages with all the stamps. So I did. 1) To make it less than 2MB, the quality is not so good 2) I have stamps on all pages except 10/11 so I did not send it. But now, I am sure NVC would be like "why the pages 10/11 are missing", etc. My husband will ask the lawyer (me, I cannot have any more exchange with him, i'm so annoyed already and we are not even in the eye of the hurricane yet LOL). Anyway. Sorry to bother you with that.

Good morning all!

I had my visa interview, and everything went very well. I received my visa one week later, but no "yellow sealed envelope". Is it normal? Did Paris Embassy stopped using these envelope?

Thank you very much!

Hi there, I did my interview and flew to the US two months ago, I didn't have a sealed envelope either as it's now electronic :)
