What if you came here, got married, and then went back to Russia?

This suggestion isn't a viable option. To (possibly) be permitted re-entry into the U.S., the beneficiary would first have to apply for and receive AP (advance parole) or the conditional green card. Then, time spent out of the U.S. would be a concern.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi guys,

I'm in a tricky situation right now. I am currently studying for my Master's degree and had applied for the K-1 visa 3 months ago and to my fiance's and my surprise our visa processing has been progressing at a very rapid rate. My case is now with the embassy and will have my interview soon.

Now I know that if granted a visa I'll have to move to the US in less than 6 months. But doing this means I won't be able to finish my studies. Do you think I'll be able to extend/re-issue the visa based on this reason? If not, if I let the visa expire and then once I finish my degree I get married and apply for a spouse visa, will this cause any troubles (in the sense that I let my K-1 visa expire and based on this will I have any problems with the spouse visa?)

if you get interview from the embassy, I would just reschedule the interview date like 1-2 later this way it would work out. Just tell them you are not available for that particular date.

In my opinion, this was very poor planning on your part, not following the issuance of visas in your country, yu should have know aprx. when your visa would be in processing.

Now, what is the most important thing to .,.,"YOU!"

To me.,.,.YOU are extremely lucky, to have a visa in about 3 months, as I have seen people here on this site, wait years for a visa.

What do you want, you spouse, first, or your education, first.,.,,.it is YOUR decision.

Most of the time a K-1 visa is less than 1/2 the time of an I-130!

YOU DECIDE, what is the most important to you.

If I was your to be spouse, I .,..,.personally, would be very up set with ""YOU"" for even considering delaying a K-1 visa!!

Just my opinion!

My fiancee and I both want my education to be completed before I travel to the US, it makes it easier for seeking employment.

I found a few things regarding the medical on the embassy website and it looks like there's still some hope for me: http://riyadh.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical.html

"All other medical reports classified as "No apparent decease or defect" are valid for 6 months after the doctor’s signature date. If your case is subject to further administrative processing, or if the processing of your file is delayed due to missing documents, the medical report may expire before your visa is issued. In that case, you would be required to renew the examination and submit an updated medical report to our office before you receive your visa."

I mentions above that the validity of the visa is 6 months after doctor’s signature date, not sure if the doctor has already signed everything or he'll sign it when I go to collect the reports.

Wow, so complex.

If visa can't be delayed, then I am thinking suspend the school,

and consider coming back after marriage to finish,

or better yet, see if you can transfer to US school to finish.

The main reason, these visa processing is sometimes unpredictable

in terms if approval conditions and length it takes.

If you let visa expire, that might raise some difficulty in future filing.

Best wishes
