USCIS Processing Time

I had a feeling this would happen. They made 'progress' last month after we called them out and I knew they would relax thinking we would quiet down. I think the only way these processing times will continue to move is if we make noise and make noise often.

What else can we do? Does anyone have suggestions? We've rallied together before and got a response, I think we can do it again.

I was just combing through the other thread and someone made a comment about people being out for the Christmas holiday (I haven't finished reading the rest of the posts yet, so I haven't seen a response). Whatever we need to do I am on board.

Should we contact our local Representatives/Senators to see if any are willing/able to push this into the national spotlight? Granted, teh time of year is not fantastic, but what better compelling story at this time of year than hundreds of thousands of Americans are forced to be without their families during the holidays due to USCIS' incompetency?! I'm sure there's better language, but you get my point!

I was just combing through the other thread and someone made a comment about people being out for the Christmas holiday (I haven't finished reading the rest of the posts yet, so I haven't seen a response). Whatever we need to do I am on board.

There's a third pre-planned letter in the works for January which may get a larger audience than tomorrow's, but there was a consensus that we need to address this newly-released data now. It's too infuriating to let pass. We want to let them know that we're watching and holding them accountable for promises made.

Feel free to contact representatives, but I wouldn't have high hopes. I wrote to my congressman with the idea he might take an interest in governmental inefficiency, etc. but it was absolutely no go. We might get some good media attention if we can articulate the "separated at Christmas" message well, but politicians are unlikely to be moved when they're finishing up the budget deal, working on health care, and bickering over immigration reform that will have absolutely nothing to do with us.

this is our first time ever having a relationship with someone miles away and i feel so hopeless. Its hard to feel postive when someone has control over whether your husband wil be with you or not i talked to God alot i am so trying to keep thinking positive. Our paperwork was sent to Nebraska service center as well when i read how long processing was i got sick . I hope because of Holiday season this why they are slow please all let us stay encouraged

I absolutely agree that an immediate letter be sent. I think that sends a clear message that we're watching them and we're going to hold them accountable.

Unfortunately we don't have lobbyists with fat wallets (or do we haha) to stick in politicians' pockets. I think the media would be more sympathetic to families being seperated. Whatever is done, I am 100000000000% on board. My senator is Amy Klobuchar and she seems pretty open, but I don't know what her staffing capacity is at the moment with it being so close to the holidays. I will call her office again and see what happens...

Needs to be pointed out that this is a bold-faced lie, almost all February filers are clear and somehow July(!) people are getting RFE's and acceptances now. The February date thing is just to keep the remaining (from VJ data somewhere around 33% of) March filers from being able to file service requests.

Is this a problem affecting only people who filed an I-130 for a spouse who lives abroad, or does it also include I-130's filed with form I-485 (adjustment of status while living in the US?)

I think as long as they grant an EAD/AP (work authorization/advance parole) one can just be ok for at least one year while the I-130 is processed... I guess that's the reason why they issue the EAD/AP card in the first place... Please let me know if I am missing something. They usually approve EAD/AP cards within 90 days (normally people report they received their EAD card within 75 days from the date of filing their I-765/I-131)

Its ok no need be sorry wee called uscis they said we will get letter from within 2 weeks i wonder what is about .the last update in uscis said Alien registration number was changed on Nov12,2013!!!!!

This information was what they had available when they told us that they were working diligently to clear our backlog. Nov. #'s will probably be improved, but still nowhere where they need to be.

And advancing 1 day in over a month. BULLHONKEY.

Remember this is the government we are dealing with.. They worked 19 days in November because they had two holidays, Veterans Day on the 11th and Thanksgiving Day on the 28th. Now as we know, many stayed home the Friday after Thanksgiving so lets just knock one more day off. So lets assume they worked 18 days in November. That's 144 hours by the way. There is an apparent shift/advancement of one day. So they will report an improvement of somewhere around 5%. In government terms that means someone will get a promotion. Remember we are dealing with a huge bureaucracy...but you know what? I wouldn't live anywhere else.

In all fairness to the bureaucracy none of us, me included was "FORCED" by the government to be without my wife last Christmas. I chose to

marry a Filipina and knew that it would take time to get her here. She is here now and we decorated her first Christmas tree the other day. She

was not here last year but that was really my fault because we did not get married and file earlier in the year. We also need to remember,

especially at this time of year that employees at these government offices are people just like us too. They all deserve their vacations, time off,

sick leave, etc... I hope everyone currently waiting to bring their loved one to the US is able to do so before next Christmas.
