Canada signalled intentions to claim the North Pole and surrounding Arctic waters while announcing Monday the filing of a UN application seeking to vastly expand its Atlantic sea boundary.

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said the filing mainly concerns the outer limits of Canada's continental shelf in the Atlantic Ocean.

But it also includes "preliminary information concerning the outer limits of (Canada's) continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean," he said. "We have asked our officials and scientists to do additional work and necessary work to ensure that a submission for the full extent of the continental shelf in the Arctic includes Canada's claim to the North Pole," he told a press conference. "Fundamentally, we are drawing the last lines of Canada. We are defending our sovereignty," added Arctic Minister Leona Aglukkaq.

But Russia and Denmark are expected to file overlapping claims, which could lead to confrontation between the Arctic neighbors.

Canada has only three airplanes that can fly as far as the north pole, and needs us to transport the self contained "Tim Horton's" because when they built it, they made it too big to fit in any plane they actually own and need a US C-5 to take it anywhere, but Obama will be too scared to fly an airplane that close to the Russians because Putin....well, you know, Putin hates Gays. The Canadians will ask Sarah Palin to do it because she can see Russia from her backyard and she ain't skeered of no Russians AND she ain't gay...but she won't be able to find Canada because she can't see it from her backyard, The Canadians will be unable to fight without food...what will they do without their "lunch trio" and Maple Glazes?

Sarah Palin disembarked from a plane in Seoul, South Korea today expecting to attend the memorial service for Nelson Mandela.

According to local reports the former Alaskan governor and Republican Vice-Presidential candidate arrived on Asiana flight 459 from Anchorage at 6:30 am local time and took nearly a half-hour to realize that she had flown to the wrong country.
