Card mailed but didn't arrive, says 'Notice Left'

When we went to the SS office, they advised us to put our family name on our mailbox, even though we live in a house, otherwise USPS won't leave SS correspondence in the mailbox.

Perhaps it's the same way with USCIS?

it's the same with USPS - if the name isn't on the mailbox or the human that works the route not recognize it,

it won't get delivered (maybe).

it sucks, really.

--

to the OP - you've a tracking # - go INTO that post office on Monday, get the shift supervisor, and demand your mail, giving over the tracking #. Using a telephone will be a waste of time for you. Tempus Fugit, and that greencard, too, will be lost.

Back in May, Sol's 10 year green card was on the USPS truck for delivery. She was home. The mail came, but no green card. I was about 15 miles away at my son's school. I immediately called the local post office, explained that this was a critical document mailed from the federal government, and it could not be lost. He took my number, telephoned the driver, then called me back. It seems the envelope has been misfiled within the truck. The driver was still making his rounds on foot. I knew where he parked, and sent Sol out to wait by the truck. A few minutes later, he came back, found the envelope, and all was well.

I do have the benefit of living in a small town, but I also believe in jumping on these things instantly.

This may be redundant, but Joan got her GC on Tuesday. It was sent priority mail with a tracking number. It was delivered to our mailbox with no need for a signature. As others have said, go to the post office and have them find it. Good luck.

Sorry about the double post...system error...actually it's kind of funny...now it really is redundant! Seriously, good luck getting the card.

I'm in Virginia also, not too far from Fairfax . If it was sent bu USPS, they can loose anything it seems. Part or all of my mail gets put in the wrong box at least once a week. Possibly the weather we are having today could be causing a problem, or the mailman may have just decided since its icy, to say he attempted delivery, and will make you go to the post office to pick it up in person. Anything important should never be sent by USPS, FedEx or UPS is far more reliable as far as I am concerned.

Well I went to the post office today, and voila..... they can't find the letter. They were also surprised to see it says 'notice left' since the package did not require signature (they checked)

I'm looking at the tracking now and it didn't change... so today it doesn't say 'out for delivery' or anything. The mail will come in about an hour, I'll go down and talk to the mailman.

Something tells me - as I was fearing all along that they would, even before it was sent - that USPS has lost my green card in the mail. This is truly unbelievable. They have first lost my EAD and because of that I still can't work (was supposed to come at the beginning of August) and now they have lost my green card. Unbelievable.

the shift supervisor was able to see where it had been sorted, and into which route , and which carrier (this is a human) has it?

Good Luck meeting with the postal carrier today, I hope you have a pleasant surprise this time.

i say go back to that station,

get the shift supervisor human, and pitch a fit.

Don't leave until you talk with the carrier that actually delivered the card. The shift supervisor can make that happen (that meetup).

Same thing happened to me yesterday! I was waiting for the mail all day in my house, then, at six o'clock p.m I checked in USPS website with my tracking number and I almost panic when I saw the same information! OMG! It said that they tried to delivered, and there was no one home so they left a notice! When I checked my mailbox, there was nothing.!

But today, at about 11:00 am. A lady with no uniform left the package in my mailbox. There It was! the so much waited document.!

I hope you have received yours already.

Could be someone else it checking your mailbox for you, and stealing your mail.

Where do you live? Because, it could be the Mailman being lazy, with this bad weather and the snow. In my case, I'm sure the mailman did not go through my place the day he was supposed to and said that he left the notice when he didn't. Or he could drop the notice in some other place by mistake. Those things happens.
