Hi VJers,

I must say that this site is phenomenal, it is the best thing that could have ever happened to all those going through the visa process....it is not only very informative but it helps to encourage everyone along the way.

I have a question, If I am filing a k1 visa app for my fiance and a k2 for his children will they be required to take a DNA test? and if so does anyone know how long the DNA process takes?

just a bit more info because the DNA test might differs base on the situation. He lived with his baby mother when she conceived both children but his baby mother registered his son in the hospital so his name was not placed on the birth certificate but was added later.

Please advice

I have never heard/seen any reference to DNA testing being necessary for a K1/K2 visa. blink.png

Jamaica test pretty often, paternitys if fathers name is added

after age 14, however last year the embassy reported a high

numbers in negatives, so at any age a child can now be tested

even between married couples, someone had posted her

interview date was re-set she was very pregnant & they request

her have the DNA after babys birth & re-scheduled interview

Merica realize seh a nuff jacket yaad man get, & seh it to openly.

Know a well known person with 5 kids from wife...I have no idea

Y the consulate request DNA on all...guess what the 4 th was neg.

never seen a grown man cry that hard they turn the kid down, told

him he can adopt and re-do paper because the child knew him as dad

maybe it was local talk & rumors (they in the lime-lite) but the boy

looked different no than the others.....they may..they may not & they

instruct U how it would be done

jarawee you are so funny...but its so true...but for a non immigrant visa they should just leave it...plus u know what if a man loves the child he has been raising all those years the embassy should leave it be... because now they are just turning that child's life up side down...not that i am promoting jackets as we call it...but there are so many fatherless children in Jamaica that i am happy for the children that have a father in their lives...it doesn't matter if he is the biological father or not...

If they are not the biological father, a legal adoption will still qualify for a K-2.
