My wife entered the country 5 weeks ago on Oct 6, but we have not received her welcome letter or green card yet. Anyone know if there are currently delays with processing?

We called USCIS on Nov 1 and spoke to a level 2 ISO. The ISO said they received her payment, but other than that she's not in the system yet. Should we just keep waiting?

Same here, my wife arrived here on Sept 5th and still nothing. Wasn't too worried if it's just delayed and have to wait a little longer, but getting worried now that they lost her file. Planning to call USCIS and/or my Senator's office tomorrow.

Anyone else been waiting too long and overdue to receive their Greencards???

Gonna try again.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

The green card production was delayed to to some mistakes made on cases before yours.. She should have it within 3 months. Keep checking her ELIS. You can get everything you need based off the endorsed visa in her passport which is a temporary green card (like SSN and then driver's licence. ) Welcome letter is a little pamphlet that comes with the green card ;)

Regarding the SSN, we went to the SSA office a couple weeks ago. My wife already has a SSN from when she was here on her work visa, so we just need to update her name. We gave them our marriage cert and then they asked to see her Green Card. I told them her visa is her temporary green card. They didn't seem satisfied with that and told us she has to be here for 30 days before we can do anything. Is it possible they don't see her as being in the country in their system? Or were they just giving us a hard time?

ELIS seems to not work. Every time my wife tries to log in it says it doesn't recognize her password, but she knows she's using the right one. If you try to reset it, it asks security questions which she answers but it then tells her one of the answers are wrong and her account could be locked. So she doesn't want to do anything to cause a problem with it.

Quick update...

I called USCIS again this morning. Spoke with an ISO and they said my wife is now in their system as being here. They told me it takes 30 to 90 days to get the Green Card from the date that she paid the immigrantion fee ($165)...not the date that she entered the country. Does this sound right? She paid the fee on September 16...so we're going to give it until early next month to see if we get anything before calling again.

But since USCIS said she's in the system, we thought we would give it another shot with the SSA. We went to the office earlier today and they were able to update her name on her SSN! So at least that's one less thing to worry about smile.png

i'll posit the switch is turn on at ELIS because of the POE event.

Having said that, note the queue lag with ELIS and the problems with ELIS .

It's impossible for it to take 30 days from payment date. What if she didn't enter the USA in 30 days? The USCIS would have no way to get her information that's in the "do not open" packet that the CBP sends to the USCIS. Go go USCIS call center idiots again. /facepalm

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking when the ISO told me that. But how would they explain this... A friend of mine who has been in the US on a work visa recently married a USC and did his adjustment of status. He had his interview on Oct. 22 and had the welcome letter the next business day and the Green Card a week later. No 30 to 90 days there. I know we're talking a completely different set of circumstances, but it still shows that they can spit out a green card quite fast. I would have to think now that my wife is in their system and they have the payment it shouldn't take long to produce a green card...

Just thought I would add my experience. We paid during the first month of the new fee using the old website. Paid after we were issued a visa and before we left. Bank statement shows the payment, we have the receipt numbers from government. That was in April 2013 - still no Green Card. I have called four times. First time was told to wait 15 days, then 30 days then 60 days, the last call she said wait until June 2014 - "it should be there by then - this new fee has caused a lot of issues and there is a tremendous backlog." So, we have been waiting. Everything is in order on our side. I plan to wait until April and if no card we'll call our congressman. It's very annoying like an itch you can't scratch, keeps the long and arduous process of immigration going when you expected it to be over.
