My fiance and I are about to schedule her interview. The problem is that I just separated from the military and now I am in between jobs. I am going to be starting school in January majoring in Engineering. The reason why I got out is because I will make about the same as I did in the military by going to school and working part time because of the GI Bill. I've been out of the military for only 2 weeks now and my fiance wants to put on the DS-160 that my occupation is military even though I am out. I told her that's a bad idea because obviously that's lying and if we got caught then she would definitely get denied. I told her to put my occupation as student and I will get my dad to be a co-sponsor for the I-134. Anybody else think that's my best option or do I have a better one? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You're offically out from military even only 2 weeks. My fiance is in the military as well (he's a chief in US Coast Guard) and I am asked him about your situation and he agreed with you that don't lie about your current job.

Some people here lied on their application before and got denied because their action. So, if you still can make money above poverty guidelines, you'll be fine. Probably a bit changed is now you fall under 125 % poverty guidelines not 100% for military members if I am not mistakenly remember the requirement. Good luck!

Never lie! Period. It will come back to bite you in the butt.

Listing your occupation as student is better, waiting until you are actually a student then listing the GI Bill income and part time job income would be even better... along with your dad being a co-sponsor.

From my understanding, the US embassy Manila does not accept supporters for the i-134. This particular embassy when rendering a judgement can choose as they please, as opposed to filing for a spouse where the NBC makes the decision in which both operately differently.

I would recommend having a letter from your supporter too just briefly indicating you are a student and he/she plans on supporting you while you are here. While I have seen many denials, I have seen a few approvals too.

Good luck and I hope you guys are approved!! I know what it's like to miss the person you love tremendously.
