I don't think you choose where the petition gets sent to. Everyone sends the packet to a central Texas location, either the Dallas Lockbox or the Lewisville address, and from there it gets sent to either the Texas Service Center or the California Service Center (they used to use Vermont too, but it's currently not processing K1's).

Makes sense. I wondered where the California Service Center came into play since Texas is the only address listed to forward K1 petitions to on USCIS website. I suppose they notify you via NAO1 if its been forwarded to California or something. The service center my petition is being processed at is not listed anywhere when I go into my case status profile on USCIS website. I guess that means it didn't go to California (sigh).

It's all based on where you leave....certain states go to Texas and other states to California. Example, it seems that anything from the Midwest is being handled by California...

Well after the excitement of receiving an NOA2 in 10 days unfortunately since then it has been over 4 weeks and the NVC still has not received the file. On the plus side it was very easy to get through to the NVC today when I called and they were polite. They just gave me the standard "It can take up to 8 weeks to receive" line. Sigh. Need to get that case number to move things along. Hate the feeling of being stalled.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your case information. Please see below mentioned information on my case K-1 application and please reply back to me about the next steps.

December 6th, 2013 - Mailed application by using USPS 2 day express mailing.
December 9th, 2013 - Application delivered by USPS to Dallas Lockbox.
December 10th, 2013 - Someone from USCIS picked it up.
December 12th, 2013 - Text message and email arrived with application receipt number.
December 13th, 2013 - Status was available online. Stage Initial Review for application - application sent to Texas Services Center for processing.
December 17th, 2013 - Letter arrived in mail with receipt number - NOA1
December 20th, 2013 - Status changed from processing to Alien registration number changed status.
Question: Alien registration number changed status, what does this mean? whats next after this? A lot of people who filed in in late November also stated on this forum that they got their approval. Should I say my approval is also on its way or is it too early. Just so you know my application is at Texas Services Center.
Thank you and I look forward to all of your response.

The Alien Registration number simply means they've assigned a number to he alien fiance - it's an important step in the process, but still only a step. Not a lot of people have gotten approved already, only some. It's pretty much a luck thing - assuming nothing is wrong with your petition. Some times it takes longer to approve, sometimes it doesn't. All we can do is sit and wait. It is way too early to state your approval is on the way, at this point.

Hi. We sent out our paperwork at 20th of November. I guess we got NOA1 at 29 November. But I don't kbow how long will it takes to get NOA 2? Any guess?

A guess would be just that, a guess. Some have gotten approved in 15 days, others in 5 months. No one can tell you when you will get the NOA2.

If its in California I'd say pretty soon....if it's in Texas dont hold your breath..(Enter sarcasm here)

There are plenty of members with petitions in California who haven't gotten approved yet. Yes, they seem to be moving along faster, for approvals anyway, but it doesn't mean the member will be approved soon.

The first three letters on your case number will identify which center you're being processed at. For example, my petition is at Texas Service Center, so I have a SRC number.

This isn't true, our case is at the California center for processing and I have a very similar timeline to yours and I have not received my NOA2. We are all pretty much in the same situation, the statistical information for Visa Journey members only shows an average 2 day difference between TSC and CSC.

Thank you and good luck in your journey. I see you got the dreaded RFE. Hope it goes smooth. I agree the embassy interview date is way to far out there (past my k1 date) but maybe next month they will move things along quicker. Hey I am an optimist. I will be heading back to Manila in Feb. I am hoping my fiance can do her medical then as I will have a hotel in Manila. I am not sure if I would be allowed in st Luke's just to keep her company.

Keep me updated on your progress. I am sending some positive vibes your way :)

Thanks for your kindness! Yeah was expecting the RFE but had to wait for the hardcopy; I sent a reply via overnight mail last week. Hope they can review it this week including the holidays so I will tried to be optimistic too ^^

You can wait in the St Lukes lobby but it will be very crowded and not the most ideal place to hang out but having said that, not much else in that area either.

Have a great time in Manila. I miss it there sometimes. Best of luck to you and your fiance! Happy holidays!! :)

I just found out one of my friend from high school immigration officer for the California Service Center, I was wondering why she was training in Texas.

But I hate to burst people's bubbles but most immigration officers are on leave for the holidays, most of them won't be back until after the new year. :(

So wait patiently.

My friend approves I-130, though, lol I asked her if she can find something about my case if she goes back to work, but she told me since my case is a same sex case, many officers at CSC are still receiving training on how to adjudicate a same sex case. So I guess I'm delayed for a bit. But she said she will ask around about the processing times for I-129F from the other departments.
