I emailed my congressman about a month ago and again today. I'm going to write both my senators as well. I know for the most part they can't do anything to help my specific case, but they do need to know people are angry.

Even if just everyone on this site emailed their representatives, I bet there would be at least some sort of impact!

I have a letter to my congressman all drafted and ready to go =D I'll wait until our petition hits the 5 month mark (<3 weeks) just so I can say we've officially exceeded their goal, but I'm so ready to send it now. It turns out my representative is on a committee for government oversight and reform, so I wrote from the perspective of "this agency is broken." I would love if his office took an active interest beyond the status of my case and actually tried to figure out what on earth is wrong with USCIS.

List of video participants:

alaskafan, Kaylara, Blueberry Pancake, bobby299, AnnaTaka, Jayr&Kirstine, lucybelle, ShamoLisa, en-oh-eh-to now, thedude6752000, Ana&Sean, Macau PDX, r060106, londonwalker, YulingZhu, and YOU*

We're at a respectable 15 volunteers. If we each get a spouse involved, that makes for 30. Add in some kids and we're near 35. That's pretty good, but we want to give the impression that this video was the work of hundreds of upset committee members who simply ask for family unity.

*Yes, you. Volunteer for the video. Make us stronger.

I am in as well! :D

I think of it maybe coming from another vantage point. If we say that maybe the process could be sped up, our spouses could help contribute to our economic system and help with paying taxes (Uncle Sam likes that), lol.

I am in the same boat. I am the petitioner and my husband is the beneficiary. Compared to many others out there, our petition has been sitting for only 3 months at USCIS after our NOA1. Let's get this ball rolling.

And I know it may sound odd, but I'm willing to start that petition on the "Create a Petition" through White House. Let me know how else can I help and let's get things going.

I am starting to like this idea of us getting together and doing something about this mess, every little bit of it helps!

An idea, we can also post a video with an article describing emotional distress affecting all of us to CNN iReports section (ireport.cnn.com) and have our friends, colleagues, and relatives share the article via social networks. Who knows, we may get a cover story on CNN!

"What we do in life echoes in eternity."

I'm glad someone has taken up this responsibility. Though the committee has not decided on this just yet, I think the idea for the White House petition is good. The Obama administration has commented on petitions that only have a few thousand signatures. Why not us? The important part is that we coordinate the our efforts.

We have:

1. A final draft of the letter (I think it's final)

2. Participants for the video and a YouTube account ready and waiting (Still waiting for the script to be final)

3. A Twitter account, but not enough followers

4. Committee members posting the link the to letter around the web (we need more activity)

Once all of these are ready, then the time for the petition will be right. Then we will more easily be able to lead people to the page and get signatures, which of course is not as easy as it sounds...

I wrote a handful of letters to the editor of some Chicago area papers. I hope our story is good enough to print! Anyone who wants to help, I can provide a suitable letter. Just ask for it and I'll pm you. Then you can just submit to your local papers online.
