I was boarding a plane towards Buenos Aires at the same time the world was learning about the US government shutdown. Then, I heard the news. Upon my arrival, as my fiancé and I were getting ready for his K1 visa interview scheduled to occur within 48 hours, I panicked a little when I realized the US Embassy might have ceased operations as well, right? Wrong. Thank goodness for our slow yet free hotel WiFi. A quick google search proved that there was nothing to worry about; I found a notice of 'normal activities despite shutdown' posted on the embassy's webpage.

The interview appointment was at 9:00 a.m. and we were out of the embassy before noon. We were excited and very happy, holding hands as we walked away knowing that the visa had been approved.

2 business days later, my fiancé's visa is ready for pick-up at the location requested by him. I am back home, and anxiously waiting his arrival to the U.S.A.

I couldn't be happier :D
