I applied for a K1 Visa I129F followed the instructions here (thank you!) Sent it on 9/11/2013 with Checked cashed on the 12th and an SRC number assigned 09/13 from the Texas.

Today i received my (5) 4x6 color photos returned stating that they cannot support my application/petition with photo pictures. They are standard pictures in the format stated in the guide here.

Anyone else had this issue?

thanks,

-Cary

How did you include them? Were they just loose or in a baggie? I have seen this happen before. It seems sometimes they were returned because they were included with digital media and they just returned it all. After seeing several posts about returned photos, I have been wondering if they are sending things back that they cannot attach into their folders easily. Printing out photos onto regular paper might be the best way to send in photos.

I followed the guide, placed (5) 4x6 color photos, with dates, Names and locations on the back of photo and placed them in a baggie. The return letter said they cannot accept photo format and cannot place this format in your file folder for review by an officer during the adjudication process.

I will call the number they gave me on Monday, but their website states its an acceptable format. so I am boggled.

Just seem odd to me, i have all of the documentation that I went there via plane tickets passport entries etc... but pictures seem to be the best proof..... as it was with her and her family..

Yes, photos are proof that you met but you actually need to prove you met in the two years prior to filing. Therefore, boarding cards or passport stamps are the best proof. Photos are classed as secondary proof.

Thanks, that was the part i was struggling with.... Plane tickets, boarding passes etc... prove that i was there, but it doesn't prove we met... I figured pictures would carry more weight then that. thanks for the response :) I just didn't want them coming back and stating, we see that you were there but where is the proof you two actually met.

That is strange...

Have you gone to the advance search tool to see if there are others in the same predicament as you and the reason why they were returned. It's worth a try to check it out. yes.gif

Sounds like you did send them in correctly in a bag and specifics written on the back..not sure why they were returned. That's how I sent in mine as well.

Did you send the boarding passes, etc along with the pics, or just the pics? Your post is not clear on that.

Pics only prove you met, but don't prove exactly when.

Boarding passes, etc, show when you were there, but don't prove you actually met.

The two together give a nice overall picture of being there within two years AND having met.

If you did include both, then, well... disregard this post. I am as confused as you are in that case! LOL

Yours is not the first, which is why I was wondering if they are going to start sending back loose photos that they cannot easily attach inside the folders they use.

Can you point out where on the USCIS website it states acceptable formats of photographic evidence?

Primary evidence such as passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel/ATM/credit card receipts, etc. are the important things for proving you met within the last 2 years. The photos are secondary, so if you sent enough primary evidence, then it should be fine. Take the photos to your interview.

I have to say that is odd. Those pictures are exactly same with ours ensembled into the I-129F. My fiancé and I already have our NOA-1. I hope it does not happen to ours.

Were the photos the only evidence you submitted? If so, that maybe the problem, you really need multiple forms of proof. I included copies of my passport pages with my visa stamps into/out of the Philippines, hotel booking receipts, airline e-ticket receipts, (didn't save boarding passes), that would show presence in the same area, then the photos show actually meeting. Some of the photos had the date embedded (date stamped) to show that the meeting occurred during the time frame indicated in your other proof. Just writing the dates, isn't as good, also showing unique backgrounds are better to again prove presence. I only included 5 photos my self, placed in a photo album page, labeled with names, dates, and location.

They are scanning everything and processing the electronic copies of the evidence you send to them, so if an item will not feed through a document feeder, because it is too small, or too big, or too thick, or too rigid, etc., that item will be rejected. So, my advice is to either print the photos on standard 8.5 x 11 inch copy paper, or photocopy them. This will not be the first time the guides here have not kept up with the USCIS practices.

When we filed our 129f I sent in about 35 printed black and white photos ( photos that I had posted in Facebook and printed from my copier) my g325, the letters of intent, the last 5 years of taxes, screen shots of the thousands of the conversations we had, from Skype, Facebook, hotmail, yahoo, and from the IM apps on my phone, my divorce papers, our birth certificates, a copy of my ID, my SSN card, 2 passport pics of my fiance, a letter on how we met, and all the other paperwork the needed to begin the petition. The only thing they they asked me in the RFE letter was my passport pics. I sent them in with case number and now we await the decision.

Why they send yours back is beyond me but I would call them and ask.

Did you include the names of all the people in the picture and her relationship to that family member ? When you presented yourself on those pictures did you write your full names as it appears on your I-129f and G-325a forms? It is definitely odd that they did return the pictures . Now this worries me coz I sent at least 20 4x6 printed on a photopaper . I just hope we don't get an rfe. Good luck and keep us posted.
