NVC says 8 weeks to receive petition?

Hello!

I just hung up with the NVC (after several busy tones and a 30 minute wait, which actually wasn't as long as I was expecting), and the woman informed me that they have NOT received our NOA-2 petition approval yet and that it will take 8 WEEKS.

I have never heard that the wait would be 8 weeks. The USCIS does not even state this long of a wait, I believe. I'm curious if anyone knows if this is the normal amount of time or if I just wasn't speaking to a very informed person.

Basic info:

Our petition was approved August 12th, It being September 5, that's almost 4 weeks waiting. Any advice? Should I call back and ask a different representative?

Thank you!

That's what they have been telling everybody and you will be on hold forever whenever you call them.

Our NOA2 was on July 22, and we received our case number on August 19. Be patient. I know that it sucks, and it sucks see other people getting their case numbers so fast.

Goodluck!

Thanks. It's good to know at least that a bit of a wait is normal. That means it probably has not been lost or anything. I'll give it another week but probably will call sooner than that.

Ours got received and processed quick, but then we got selected for AP (additional/administrative processing) been waiting 2 1/2 weeks since our case number was assigned by NVC. Don't get too excited until you know case is on its way to the embassy.

Hi emjkitazawa,

Your file will probably be sent out from CSC this weekend or next week.

We were approved on 7th Aug. CSC sent it out to NVC on 4th this month.

Gathering many of the posts on VJ, a little shorter than 1 month should be a new norm.

Ah, better call Department of State rather than NVC! My fiance says DoS staff is very nice and take only a minute or two to talk.

This is VJer's post from July (sorry i lost the link):

St&Sv

Posted 27 July 2013 - 01:35 PM

I recommend you call the Dept of State (202-663-1225) over the NVC. Our petition was shipped on 7/18 and I called a week later to hear the same thing I heard last time I called; "we don't have you in our system, please wait up to 8 weeks". After calling the DoS (hit 1 for english and then 0 for an operator...i was surprised no wait or annoying music!) he took my info and told me the NVC had it and should be done processing it shortly. He also had my case number too. DoS was much more easier to deal with than NVC.

It's just ####### because the darn thing EXPIRES. I know it's not supposed to be a major thing to get it extended, but there is a time limit on the NOA2. Ours expires in Nov and hopefully London doesn't take too long to schedule an interview after getting his medical.
