CR1 got 10 year green card

I is there any CR1 visa holder got a 10 year green card recently, a friend of mine jus got his GC and he is a CR1 and he got a 10 year GC. is the 2 year condition no longer in effect? I so wish it not in effect no more!!!

Yes, the 2 year conditional is in effect. They made a mistake. Send it back to them with the I-90 form. You don't need to pay for the replacement, as the error is theirs. If you don't remove conditions after 2 years, you will find naturalising difficult.

My wife got the CR1 green card that expires in 10 years so my question is why should we return it back ?

You have two choices, return it because it's wrong with the I-90 or keep it and remember to remove conditions on your own. You will need to still remove conditions if you have a CR1 even if they give you a 10 year expiry date on the green card. The main suggestion on this site, as this has happened a lot recently, is the I-90 and returning the card to correct it. Because the fault lies at the USCIS there is no fee.

I'm not sure if there will be an issue or not by having a 10 year green card when you are only supposed to have a 2 year card. But it's possible that it can mess up applying for loans, getting a DL, or anything else that may require your green card.

Yep, it happened to us also. We received the green card the day before we had an infopass appt to discuss another matter (another screw up on their part) so we asked about the 10 year expiration date while we were there. We had already researched on line and filled out an I90 and had an envelope ready to send to phoenix lock box. First she spent 5 minutes looking up the Phoenix lock box address we already knew about. She took the form and said we filled out a wrong section, that we needed to complete the section under permanent resident and not conditional resident. She crossed out my checked boxes and checked the boxes in the wrong section! If we had sent that in, we would still have the same problem. We showed her in the instructions where it specifically stated not to fill in that section if you were a conditional resident. I was polite and spoke in a normal tone of voice. She got pissed and told us to fill it out "however we want". so I did. :0)

government employees hate being told they're wrong. It's always best to play stupid and do it the right way. My husband, who's a govt employee, told me so

update: received a notice from immigration that there was a mistake on my wife's green card 10 days after we saw the mistake and returned it. The notice had a different address than the one we were initially told to send it to. Hope we get a new one.....

I thought if you are married for more than 2 years and then you get your residence card then yes, you would get the 10 year? a friend of mine was married for 3 years and when he finally came on a cr-1 a few weeks later he got the 10 year...so in this case, was that correct?

Apparently they made the change at POE so it is correct.
