Okay I have a question I checked out the site asking about immunization and I don't have a few. But they say things like hepatitis b is required for ages 18 and under but I never got it. Do I still have to get it now? Because that's like a 6 month process and I don't know if that's goin to pose a problem. Please help.

There's the list of things you need.

If you're over 18, you don't need the Hep B vaccination as it's meant for children because they are the most susceptible.

You're not under 18.

They are meant for those people because when they are kids THAT is when they most commonly catch those things.

You're over 18, you're not a high risk, not required.

There's a magical thing in your body that becomes extra immune the moment you turn 18.

Think of it this way...

If it mattered for you to get the vaccine over 18, then why list an age requirement?

It would just say everyone needs all of these.

This is what I thought that why I was curious why it was on the immunization ages 18-64 requirements.

The reason it's on there is because most people have HAD the hep b vaccination in either grade 6 or grade 9 (for Canadian's anyhow) but it's not required to have proof of it at the medical if you're over 18.

Hep A and B are recommended for travelling to the more tropical climates. It can’t hurt to get them if you are planning to travel to Mexico or the Caribbean.

My teen is 18. Therefore she fell into the 18-64 category AND the 18 and Under category for vaccinations. :(

Here are the vaccinations according to age: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/downloads/adult/mmwr-adult-schedule.pdf

HPV and Zoster are no longer USCIS requirements but the rest are age dependant.

As someone over 18 you typically only need:

- MMR

- tDAP

- Varicella (or history)

- Flu (if season)
