I met my husband (who is USC) on dating website in july 2011 (He can speak and write in Mandarin) . I also knew some Taiwanese men on the same website. When my USC husband got my heart, I didn't go on this website anymore. In 2012 Sept, I visited him via B2 Visa, then I married him in Jan 2013. I went back to Taiwan in March before my I-94 was over due. After one month, I flew back to USA, but Customs asked me to sign about not geting in USA voluntarily.

Before this happened, I never thought about being a USC, and I even don't know what is the different between green card and USC. One officer gave me the info papers about filing CR-1 Visa (I didn't lie about why I wanted to stay in USA).

Then I realized marriage is not so easy as I think when I marry to a USC.

My husband also has no idea about applying visa for me. After this, he goes to find a lawyer to help us get visa.

After this event, I google about this then I know this VJcommunity,

I have been worrying that I can't live with my husband in USA anymore. (He has two great jobs which he loves and I won't ask him to give up his jobs for me and staying in Taiwan)

I also worry that USISC may think my marriage is fraud because I used B2 visa to get marry intead of K1 visa

(I really didn't know what K1 visa is after knowing VJ. besides, we never met in person but just saw each other on webcam. Since I was in USA, I love him more and more than I think)

I really don't want to be USC, besides, my family is in Taiwan. My parents is geting to old to live in USA with me. None of my family wants to be USC.

And I left before my I-94 was overdue, because I want to obey the USA law.

My thinking is I use B2 visa to live with my husband and get back to taiwan every 6months for visiting my parents.

Anyway, I can't go back the time before this happened, but I wish someone can give us advice when we get married.

For example, the officer who gave us marriage license and knew I was foreign could gave us some information about cross-country marriage.

If I knew this before, I think I could make right decision about Visa.

Now, I still don't want to be USC, but I really want to stay with my husband.

I want him to be my first and last husband.

If I can't get CR1 visa, I don't know what will happen, and this scary me every second.

Sorry about my limited English writing ability if you read this post with difficulty.

You cannot use a B visa to 'live' in the US. If customs and border protection assume you are doing this, they can deny you entry and cancel your visa.

You do not have to become a citizen. You may have a green card which will allow you to live and work in the US, travel outside and still retain your native citizenship.

It is your job to research avenues that suit your lifestyle, it is not the job of the person giving you the marriage certificate to counsel you on your options.

Big News ! Taiwan Citizens now can qualify under visa waiver program, and use ESTA !

Look into that, nowish, apply, and see if you qualify.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

There are so many laws even my home laws that I would never know , but I believe if I never want to harm anyone or any aninmal, and try to being a good person in my life then everything should be fine.

If there are more government officers can help innocent people to live legally, maybe our lives will be better. I know they don't have obligation to tell us anything, but there should have some good system to help us. This is what I think about good government should do.

There is no reason why you would not get a CR-1 spousal visa, and subsequent greencard. You did nothing wrong in getting married in the USA, as you did not overstay, and a denial at the border is no problem either, as you did not lie about anything.

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Thinking abut my marriage is handling by others not by myself , this causes a lot of pain. I can only pray for God let me get the cr-1 visa.

You should be able to get a c1d visa if you have not incurred any overstay or ban. it is perfectly legal to enter and marry in the usa as a tourist provided you do not have the intention of circumventing the immigration system and staying without getting proper authorization. Yes, your case is a bid pushing that limits and intention of the b1 visa... However, since you seem to have followed the stipulations enough to not incur any raised eyebrows or major citations from immigration, I think you might be ok.

similar (but not the same) My husband and I were married for 7 years before he applied for green card. He worked on board a ship with a crewmember visa and He entered as a tourist each time to visit me for 2-3 months each year without ever overstaying. Other than a few extra questions at immigration at the airport, he never had issues. We applied for the cr/ir1 and got it no problem, and 3 years later, he is a citizen.

However, i might add, being that you seem to be very confused with the process and your USC seem super busy, I would recommend you use the lawyer for your piece of mind (I rarely recommend this, but it seem appropriate in your case)

10/14/2000 - Met Aboard a Cruise ship

06/14/2003 - Married Savona Italy

I-130

03/21/2009 - I-130 Mailed to Chicago lockbox

11-30-09: GOT GREEN CARD in mail!!!!!!

Citizenship Process;

1/11/2013: Mailed N400 to Dallas Texas

3/11/2013: interview.. Approved

4/4/2013. : Oath! Now a U.S. citizen!
