The previous answer is incorrect. No you can not. The Automated system has not been in use in over a year and a half.

Sorrybut u are wrong i have been usuing the automated system it worked for me up until my husbands case got transfered to the consulate and this was just this year in April

I'm sorry, but I'm in agreement with Dwheels. The automated system was removed a long time ago (at least a year). You can only call NVC during their opening hours (7am-midnight, eastern time) and speak with an operator. You can no longer access what was called the AVR with your USCIS receipt number and/or case number.

You must be referring to something else.
