The judge in the case against George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman charged with shooting and killing Trayvon Martin, has denied the defense request to delay Zimmerman's second-degree murder trial.
Judge Debra S. Nelson ruled at the Tuesday morning hearing that she will not delay Zimmerman's trial, saying both sides have had enough hearing time and time to prepare. Jury selection is set to begin on June 10.

oh wow. so, GZ is gonna get gang-raped then killed in prison? OK !! Poor George, the trial just seems a waste of time, then.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Its.

Sorry, couldn't resist. wink.png

Interesting. I always assumed 's implied it was a possessive thing. Like "Mike's car" Apparently not in this case. Learn something new everyday.

It's versus Its
A common mistake among many writers is the "it's" versus "its" usage. This is a very easy grammar distinction. "It's" is a contraction for "it is" or "it has". If you are confused on whether you should use "it's" or "its", just replace "it is" or "it has" in your sentence. If your sentence makes sense, then you need to use the contraction form, "it's". If it does not make sense then you use the non-contraction form, "its".
Example of "Its"

The dog wagged its tail.

(The dog wagged it is tail doesn't make sense.)

The child ate its food.

(The child ate it is food doesn't make sense.)

Examples of "It's"

It's time to go to school.

(It is time to go to school.)

It's been a long time since we have seen each other.

I always just assumed that whatever I wrote was wrong.

I screw this one up quite often.

Maybe you were absent that day in 3rd grade when the teacher said that both, 'whose' (who's) and 'its' (it's) are used to show ownership, while "who's" and "it's" are the contractions of 'who is' and 'it is' respectively.

Nice try.
