Consulate interview: will not working in US affect decision?

Hello. My fiancee recently went to her medical exam, and is scheduled for the consulate interview next week.

The doctor at the medical exam mentioned that the consulate might have an issue with the fact that my fiancee currently doesn't plan to work due to a medical condition.

Is it true that they might have an issue with this?

In addition to myself, we have a family member who is co-sponsoring the affidavit of support that more than meets the financial requirements. Will that outweigh any potential negative impact of my fiancee not working in the US?

There's no requirement for the beneficiary to have plans of working. That is why they require the affidavit of support and proof of income for the USC. I don't think it will matter, I've never read anybody being asked about plans of working at the interview.

if it's the beneficiary who doesn't plan to work that won't affect your case at all as long as you meet the requirements to sponsor

Thank you very much for the replies. That helps alleviate some of our concerns, especially because the doctor had told us it might be an issue.

They did in fact ask my husband about what he planned for doing for work when he got to the states, so it is possible to be asked.

With that said though, as long as the sponsorship qualifies I don't think it can be a reason for a denial either. Maybe just a factor in the overall picture for a decision. Of course the medical condition in itself may or may not be a factor, depending on what it is.
