Consulate Review: Peru
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 8, 2013
Embassy Review : We got to the embassy around 6:45am and were first in line...they started letting people in at 7. We checked our cell phones at the door and were directed through to the waiting room with all the windows where the interviews are conducted. We were called up to the the window for the first time around 7:30 and Rumi was asked for his DS-156, 156K and 157 along with his visa photos, he was then told to go to the last to pay. After we paid he was called back to the first window they asked for his antecedentes, birth cert, our affidavit of support and proof of relationship. We had a lot but all they wanted me to give them were pictures, skype logs, phone bills and notarized letters from friends and family. They asked him how we met, how we keep in touch when were not together, if we have children and if he had ever traveled to the US before and if he'd ever applied for a visa to the US. We were then asked to sit down and waited about an hour and a half before we were called into the second interview in a separate room. This one was more relaxed than the first, she basically asked the same questions again and then told us our visa was approved!!! After so much stress and worry it was really a pleasant experience everyone we spoke to at the embassy was very friendly! I flew down to attend the interview with him and was allowed to be there for both, however all questions were directed to my fiance. I don't think my presence affected the decision at all, the CO in the second interview actually seemed surprised when we walked in together, I'm glad I went though in order to be able to share the moment with him!
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Washington DC
Event Description
Entry Date : 2013-09-21
Embassy Review : Aside from taking FOREVER to pass through immigrations (they had an issue with their computer system and this held up the line for a long while) customs at Dulles was overall a good experience. They asked for the envelope processed the papers, said you have three months to get married and welcome to the USA! Very quick process once they got the technical difficulties sorted out!
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
