Dude u can have 10,000 laws but if there are not enforced they dont mean a #######.

There are few thousand attempt to purchase a weapon by someone who is not supposed to be having one.

Dealer stopped the sale (the existing background check works) and reported them to Feds only fraction of them were ever prosecuted.

Why not prosecute 100% of these folks first.

Why not close the loopholes that allow them to walk across the street and purchase that gun they were denied at the gun store at another venue no questions asked? If they have a venue across the street where they have unfettered access to firearms, then why have any background checks at all? It's nothing but window dressing that doesn't impress anyone with a sound mind. It's like having two lanes into the airport terminal, one with security check and one without. If you carry a prohibited item, which lane do you go through? And, more importantly, what's the point then of having a security check at all?

The same registry could be used to target the legal gun owners for other things as well.

So, the reason you don't want to register all your firearms is because you are paranoid that government might decide you shouldn't have them anymore? Thanks for making the case FOR universal gun registration. However, universal background checks for all firearm purchases in not registration. So, there is no reason why any sane person would be against it.

There will always be venue to make purchase - yes its like when someone tries to breach your security line you are not doing anything just letting them go back in the crowd.

You think that person will not try again?

There are no universal laws in regards to guns, each state has its own set.

One person with CCW in one state cannot carry it to another state.

Before implementing universal check, implement universal laws.

Not true. Some states do honor CCW's from other states. California is not one of them, although many states will honor a California CCW.

lets say someone has a DL and was later was diagnosed with a medical condition which would prohibit them from driving, do you impound the car?

If he continues to drive after surrendering his DL, yes. Gun owners don't usually have gun licenses, so your analogy fails.

Do you have to take a gun owners safety test and get graded on your adherence to the laws? I get where you're going with that but there's too many differences between car and gun ownership to draw a direct parallel between the two.

SOME not all some would not make it universal.

Surrendering lic is not required by law but that happens all the time, where one is diagnosed with a medical condition which would disqualify them from having DL after they have got the DL.

There is difference but my point is similar situations happen everyday.

Do you need a univ registry for it?

My major worry with registration is with another US law entirely. In the US it seems like its very easy to get a restraining order with little proof. In many states I believe that is cause for confiscation.

Yes, because "gun safety" is an oxymoron.

Restraining orders may be easy to come by, but they are also easily lifted if they are not for good cause.

How will there aleays be a venue? If every venue requires a background check then what is the venue that remains available? Again, do you think it would make sense to have two lines into an airport - one with security screen and one without? Of course not. Same goes for venues that trade in firearms. Some require background checks but others do not. That makes no sense at all.

One does not require a DL to purchase or own a vehicle. One needs a DL only to operate a vehicle on public roadways. See the difference?
