We got a text/email saying this:

On April 23, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

but it still said "initial review" so we were freaking out and wondering what it meant then 5 hours later we got our approval. Other peopel here said it took 13 hours or a day etc...

Does it mean when your Alien registration number was changed, something positive will happen? smile.png

It depends.

A pattern has developed based on reports here on the forums: most people who filed before December 2012 did not receive any "alien registration number" message after their initial filing. If they've been waiting many (5+) months and suddenly that message comes up on the USCIS case number page, THEN it is extremely likely that an approval or RFE is around the corner. It's basically USCIS's way of saying "we've pulled your file and are working on it now."

However, starting around December 2012, many filers started getting the "alien registration number" very shortly after first sending in their initial I-129F. If they get the alien registration change after only a few weeks, then it means NOTHING at all. It seems to be USCIS just entering data in their system but NOT touching or evaluating the case in any way.

So if you get the "alien registration" message a LONG time after your initial NOA1 (when you're due for the NOA2 anyway), then it's a sign the approval (or RFE) is coming very soon. If you get it immediately after filing, then nope, doesn't mean anything good or bad.

I haven't called as it is to be within "normal" processing times. People in the forum have said that it takes from 1-10 days to get an update. I'll wait the 10 days, and if nothing develops, I'll give them a call.

...very frustrated!!!

My fiancé is going to call later today. Let's see what they have to say..

I agree.. I can feel your frustration. I am afraid I will go with the same stuff like you do.. :(

I hope they'll approve us soon.

We sent our petition on Sep 26 2012 and got out NOA1 Oct 18 2012.

Today I checked and it says

"On May 2, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance."

and our paper is still on INITIAL REVIEW.

What does it mean???

They reset our date?? We've been waiting for almost 7 months! Does it mean we are going to wait for another 7 months again?

It means nothing. Getting touched just means they've moved your file to another box. They may have spilled coffee on it or something.

Now based on your timeline, yes your case should be adjucated anytime now.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
