I have looked at many people's timelines, but I would like to just confirm. We submitted our I-129F on March 1st. The US Petitioner received something in the mail a week later acknowledging the receipt of the document. Was this the 1st Notice of Action? And were we supposed to do anything? On the K1 Process Flowchart, it states that the NOA1 should take 2-3 weeks but it took 1 week for us. So I just want to confirm. When should we expect to hear again? Assuming we have already received the NOA1, I believe the next step is the 2nd Notice of Action, correct? The K1 Process Flowchart seems to be slightly different in terms of processing times than reported on other members' timelines. Also, should we be doing anything now?

Lastly, the timelines depend on the service center, but how do we know which service center will receive our applicaton?

Thanks in advance!

Yes that is your NOA1 - it will show your case number beginning with either WAC or EAC - Western adjudication center or Eastern Adjudication Center - depending on which part of the US you are on. West will go through California CSC and east will go through Vermont, VSC.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

You've got a long wait ahead still, but don't worry -- you got your NOA1 and now you really do just WAIT, there is nothing more for you to submit at this point. A week is pretty normal for receipt of the NOA1, but the NOA2 can take 6+ months these days.

That notice that your fiance got should have a case number on it -- starting with either WAC or EAC. That tells you where your case is being processed: WAC = California, EAC = Vermont. There's no way of predicting the future, but right now California has sped up a little bit so it might be a 5-6 month wait from your March 1st date, while Vermont is a bit slower. Once you have your case number, you can check your case status online at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do and see if anything has been updated since you filed. It probably hasn't, most people's aren't touched until six months later.

During this long wait, there's isn't that much to do, but of course you should be reading about what you will need to do after you get your NOA2, and it wouldn't hurt to start gathering some of the information that you'll need later.

YOUR NOA 1 THAT YOU RECEIVED IN THE MAIL STATES WHICH ONE IT IS AT... ALSO YOU CAN SIGN UP AT THE USCIS WEBSITE AND INPUT YOUR RECEIPT NUMBER AND THAT WILL ALSO STATE WHERE YOUR APPLICATION IS AT.... ALSO YOU DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING BUT WAIT FOR APPROVAL OR A RFE (REQUEST FOR EVIDENCE) WHICH SOMETIMES HAPPENS IF THEY NEED SOMETHING MORE OR IF SOMETHING WAS LEFT OUT. iT DOES LOOK LIKE ITS TAKING ABOUT 9 MONTHS FOR ANYONE TO HEAR ANYTHING.... WHEN YOU FILL IN YOUR TIMELINE HERE IT WILL GIVE YOU AN ESTIMATED TIME ON WHEN YOU SHOULD HERE SOMETHING... GOOD LUCK.

You don't have to look at the mysterious receipt code. The NOA1 says exactly what service center it came from (bottom left corner).
