I posted a thread about this earlier, but I'm seeking further advice. I am the USC filing for my Tahitian fiancee through VSC. I just received my NOA2 moments ago (excited!). Here's the problem...

About two months ago my fiancees father was diagnosed with cancer in Tahiti. They immediately scheduled surgery in Paris (where they lived for a while years ago, so they trust the doctors more in the big city), and he is now undergoing chemotherapy and expects to be there for many more months recovering. My fiancee has gone with him to Paris and plans to stay until he has recuperated.

This obviously affects the visa process, as she isn't going to leave her fathers side until she is sure that he's okay. As there is no US Embassy in Tahiti we listed the Embassy in Fiji on the I-129F as the closest one at the time, which is now of course a hemisphere away while she sits in Paris.

Now that we have received the NOA2, is there anything we can do to change our selected Embassy to the one in Paris instead of Fiji? I read about the form I-824, is that what we need? If so, I'm assuming that should be filed ASAP? A $400 filing fee is steep but it's better than a $2000+ plane ticket to the Pacific just for an interview...

They no longer have an address in Paris, they are staying with various friends over the months, which might complicate things. Who should I call for help in this situation? The Fiji embassy, the Paris embassy? DHS wasn't much help...

So confused!

Fiji is out. Call the NVC and see if you can intcept the case while it is there and have them redirect it to Paris. Email the Paris US Embassy and ask them what to do. They will have to give one local address where the interview forms can be sent. Worst case is they send it to Fiji and you email them and have them redirect it to Paris. Complicated but I'm sure this kind of stuff happens and there is a process for it.

I don't really have any advice for you, only hope for your fiancee's father to get well soon and for you to be able to finilize your K1 journey.

Other than that, I'd like to ask you to do a favor for all VJ members and create a Timeline, which helps to estimate waiting time for all of us. Thank you and good luck! :star:

Is possible to rehome the casefile, but call NVC immediately to start.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

So does the I-824 form have anything to do with this situation?

I called NVC and they said they won't even have the approved petition for another three weeks and as such they can't do anything or give me information =(

i suggest you call back, get a supervisor, as it IS possible to capture the I-129F at NVC AND GET IT REHOMED AT NVC without paying the fee on the I-824 and filing the I-824.

The problem, as I see it, is that if you don't get it rehomed at NVC, then it's going to another US Embassy IV Unit, and there be other queues there, so getting it rehomed to Paris after it's arrived at the OTHER IV UNIT takes time and pointed conversations with a collection of brain-dead non-USCitizen workers at that USEmbassy.

Seriously, get a supervisor at NVC and tell them you need to have the I-129F rerouted to Paris.
