How long can you postpone interview?

Is the Embassy like NVC where your case stays active long as within a years time you get in contact with them?

If you were to postpone your interview how long can you keep delaying? A year? 3 years? forever?

Also if you got a 221g say for needing a co-sponsor how long do they give you to bring in paperwork?

And you know the embassy won't give a straight answer. So just wonder if anyone knows.

In relation to my husband's previous F2B case, there's a NOTE at every email from NVC saying:

Please Note: If a period of one year passes without communication from you to the NVC after

you have been notified that a visas is available, all fees and documents expire and

must be resubmitted to resume the immigration process.

On a CR1 no activity in a year usually means the petition is considered abandoned
