Not that I like airing laundry, but I have a huge dilemma I don't know if anyone can help with. We are waiting for Montreal to process our packet 3 so we can get an interview set up, which is talking forever as MTL usually does. My fiancee lives with her mom, having just finished nursing school and not working, she has lost her way to come visit me until the paperwork is done. Her mom has mental issues, and is highly mentally and sometimes physically abusive. That and she hates men, since she had bad relations with men so ALL men must be bad. She is 21, we have been together 3 years now. She has no other family, and no friends thanks to her mom's control of her life. She calls her slurs, has told her she "hopes" she dies from cancer and whatnot, and has threatened time and again to throw her out usually shoving her towards the door. I remember hearing there are ways to speed up the process if they are in some kind of danger, and I believer abuse and being told to get out and possibly living on the street would qualify. It's really putting a wreck on the relationship to the point she wants to give in to appease her mother. I know it's a stretch, but any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Dan

I am really sorry about your fiancee`s situation. I hope she will get out of her mom's control soon!

As for speeding up the process, certain cases can be expedited. Here is the link: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=16a6b1be1ce85210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

I am not sure if you will qualify since I believe there is no immediate threat to your fiancee's life (like in war-shook countries, for example). I am not an expert on expedites though, so let's wait for what the experts have to say.

I am sorry to hear of your situation, but I don't think there is any way you can provide proof that this is going on to qualify for an expedite. Why doesn't your fiancee find a job so she can afford to move out or live temporarily with some friends?

It's easy, have her rent a room there and wait. You can help to pay for it.

She was attempting to, but it's literally only a few months so by time she gets a job and everything, the interview should be around then. Her mom makes sure she didn't have friends when younger. I dunno, prolly nothing I can do but I was at least trying to see.

I make good money, but not enough to afford my rent and her rent at the same time in MTL. It's expensive there as it is or else I'd have already done it.

This is very unlikely that an expedite will be accepted... I am very sorry for you...

Can you go live with a friend or your parents and so you can rent something for her? (I know, far from being ideal... But well...)

Good luck in your visa journey!

You are at the packet 3 stage, you are almost there. It's a little difficult to expedite at this stage. Your fiancee is Canadian? If that is the case, there may be a temporary women's shelter she could go to for women in crisis? Or maybe a friend (fellow nursing student?) she can stay with for a couple of months? She would be eligible for financial assistance if she has no job so she could offer the friend a bit of money. But yeah, your case is pretty much done, hang in there.

wow sorry to hear. but that doesn't mean she not going to help her mom. remember that's her mom. you guys know better. obviously the mom has some mental issue.

her mom needed you guys. maybe try to put her somewhere to get treated. you mention she trying to be a nurse. isn't before u even help others..you need to help those people around you first...well in my own dictionary it is!!

making the process run faster will not solved your issue....

for your fiance peace of mind...she should do the right thing for her mom before leaving her atleast!!!

plus for your own karma sake..you know its too wrong to run away from your fiance's family problem!!!!

The longer it takes to happen the more you'll appreciate it when it does!

I understand not everyone can afford it but sounds like you should get extra work and provide for her till she can come .. as for us once we started the visa paper work I provided fully for sveta and she wanted to work as she had some loose ends to tie up then end of june she stop work and I support her 100% and it has also boosted her trust and desire to come to usa knowing she will be well cared for
