hi everyone! i hope you are all having a good day.

i would just like to ask few things (especially to the manila K1 applicants)

1. someone advised me that K1 visa holders should book a round-trip ticket, how true is this? would i really get questioned at the POE if i only have a one-way ticket?

2. what's the deal with K1 visa? im having a hard time booking a flight because the all the travel agencies i inquired to just kept on asking about my visa type, then after they know its a K1 visa they begin to charge more on my air fare. im getting really furious right now. why is it so hard to book a flight for a K1 visa? i asked my sister to book a flight for me (she's in greece and always books a flight) and she also gets the same response on greek travel agencies, they want to see my passport and my visa type and insists that i should get a roundtrip flight for K1 visa.

please help me guys, im getting really confused, i want to marry my girl already...its frustrating.

Nope, book the cheapest or most convienient.

2. what's the deal with K1 visa? im having a hard time booking a flight because the all the travel agencies i inquired to just kept on asking about my visa type, then after they know its a K1 visa they begin to charge more on my air fare.

That;s the travel agencies price gouging you. Book your tickets directly with the airline and don't use travel agencies; their scamming you.

1 - K1 can buy OneWay ticket since K1 is considered as an intended immigrant.

2 - Why dont you book the ticket online? From cheaptickets, orbits, etc etc. These sites dont require the details about your visa.

we normally search for "cheapest" flights thru orbit, kayak and some other airfare search engines. once we see a cheap flight, we go directly to that airline's site and book it with them. they are usually cheaper and would give you the most up to date avaiable seats.

you dont really have to deal with a travel agency. save your time and use online... (now that's a catch phrase) :innocent:

The point of getting a k1 is so you can go to the US to get married and stay there. You're suppose to book 1 ways.

No you are not. You can book any way you like. Cheaper is better. I booked a round trip for my wife and son with the return trip about seven months later than the first flight. They used that to return to visit family. What's wrong with that scenario?

Alot of good advice from others already. If there is a Delta Ticket office near you then you can go in there and buy your ticket. They will not question you or try to upcharge you. Or and this is the best route is have your fiancee book on line. It will save $$ on money transfer fees and losing money on the exchange rate.

I purchased my fiancee's and she leaves Friday. I will give an update next week after I hear how her flights go.

Good luck

Are you the one coming in? Then ask your fiance to buy a ticket for you from a US site. They won't care what visa you have, and won't charge anything extra.

I usually search on jetradar.com and it finds the cheapest options from a ton of different sites.

One way ticket! even though it's more expensive than round tickets. People told me if you get a round ticket and don't come back, that would cause a problem when you buy tickets again or something.

More mis-information. Purchase whatever type of ticket you want. There is NO restriction or requirement.

Everyone I know always buys a round trip ticket because that is cheapest and NEVER EVER had any issue.

You guys are inventing issues that don't exist. Stop.

No, you're wrong. Those airlines actually check you why you didn't go back by the time the tickets expires and they let your country's ministry of foreign affairs know that you didn't and they put you into a list or something. I don't think that's for every country but for Japan, yes cuz they actually do work.

and you probably should fix your attitude.

I've never had a problem not using a ticket. The airlines do not check to find out why you don't go. Lol. Where on earth did you hear this?
