Just read that DHS released thousands of illegal immigrants in order to prepare for the sequestration.

Do we know what the effect of sequester cuts could be on the I-130/NVC process for IR-1 and CR-1 process?

I'll take a shot at the answer: They (USCIS, NVC, et al.) will lay off hundreds, if not thousands, of employees. Therefore all of those who tend to do things legally will have to wait even longer. But maybe I am just too pessimistic!

By the way floyd, our spouses' interviews are both in one place. Currently I am doing everything I can to find out when will be the interview date for my wife. Do you have any ideas? I emailed Abu Dhabi about this and the answer I received was not encouraging (to say the least!)

There are never any guarantees of what the government will do. We know that we aren't their highest priority, but according to the USCIS website, the majority of their funding is raised through fees which we pay. If they do cut services to those areas where fees are paid, then basically they'd be robbing peter (us) to pay paul (other government services).

well, the folk that answer the telephone at USCIS and NVC are actually contractors from SERCO, Inc.

Those contracts are paid by the fees we pay, so no worries there on the telephone line stuff.

The adudicators at uscis are supposedly paid by the fees we sent to USCI,

and the

Reviewers at NVC - fees are gathered and applied on the

I-864, but unsure WHEN the DS-230 fee is applied and how.

A furlough is not the same, it's when the people get to keep their jobs and benefits, but they only work X number of hours a week. My husband might be furloughed. They'll take off 16 hours off his pay cheque per week.
