I would just like to clarify that SOME cases that are sent to MSC (National Benefits Center or NBC) then get sent out to be processed by the field office which is local to the petitioner. KDH, for example, has her file waiting to be processed in Chicago as that is her local field office. Some cases, such as mine, stay at the National Benefits Center and are processed there. It seems to be rather random and many folks on VJ have been trying to find rhyme or reason to it but nobody has been able to since files started being handled this way a few months ago.

Hello! I just saw your timeline. I was wondering, my i-130 is at NBC, and it only took 40 days for you to get your NOA2 is it because you live abroad? Are you the petitioner or the beneficiary?? because I am the petitioner and I heard that if both the petitioner and the beneficiary live abroad they get processed faster especially at NBC, is this true?

Your best processing time estimate will come from those on this board rather than statistics from November.

Dallas is not so fast, sorry.

Octobers still waiting for approvals.

Why are the time estimes only up to November? Shouldn't field offices have a more updated time estimate compared to national service centers?

When do the time estimates get updated?

USCIS received our petition (I-130) on Valentines Day Feb. 14th (maybe this is a sign of good luck) and this morning have text and email stating has been transferred to National Benefits Center (MSC). I am seeing some members being approved somewhat fast here. Is there one service center faster than others? This is on the job training for me. Any input? Thanks guys.

I just got my confirmation text and email too. I file petition last Feb 12. Good luck to us!

I am also a Janurary filer for the I-130 petition, I Got my NOA 1 on Janurary 11th with a MSC #. SingSing79 that is amazing you got NOA2 so fast !!!

I also want to say even if you make an InfoPass appointment and talk to an IO there, they don't always give you the correct information. At my local office they told me that they are not processing I-130 petitions there. This is false. Members on VJ have been transferred to the Pitt office. I believe I was one of them because I had a miraculously short waiting time for my I-130. Shorter waiting times seem to be consistent with smaller offices and by small I mean lesser case loads. Smaller offices=faster I-130 turn around time. For example, Pitt only had about 300-400 I-130 petitions pending (according to USCIS) compared with Houston's 5,000-6,000.

Sending petitions to local offices is largely unfair but unfortunately nothing can be done about it until they make the decision to have I-130s sent back to Vermont and California.

When do the time estimates get updated?

As far as I can see they update them once a month at most and quarterly at worst. And field offices are a lot more independent than service centers. That's why they are updated less often and tend to be behind. They also don't have the same amount of staff.

Hello everyone.

I recently made a call to USCIS and they said my case is at NBC as my receipt number starts with MSC (MSC=NBC, EAC=VM, SRC=TX, WAC=CA, LIN=NE) . I see many cases being transferred to local offices from NBC, but when I check VJ timeline for my local office, I do not see any cases transferred to Newark, NJ(my local immigration office). Do you guys think people fall under Newark, NJ will not get transfer to local office as previously non of the cases being seen there for i130?

Thanks

Totally unrelated, but i sent our packet in with one address, but changed about a month into the process. I assume my field office (at this point) would be found using my original zip code? Of course, I'd rather it be my second one because the office is about 15 minutes away from my house.

Who did you talk to at the call center? Did you talk to a tier 2 ISO or the first person to answer the phone? Only a tier 2 can tell your petition is at a local office or not, and they are often not up to date on that either.

VJ doesn't keep records of local offices. There are simply too many and its a recent change that they have been dealing with cases. They may have done it in the past, I'm not sure. It will not show on the uscis website that a local office is dealing with I-130 petitions either so you'll be hard pressed to find any kind of accurate or even approximate timeline to base your individual timeline off of. Really it's best to wait it out, and call only if you really need something.

It's possible it hadn't been sent to the first local office yet and they may transfer it to the new one.
