I am the foreign spouse and my hubby is the USC.

We opt-ined for EP. Our AOS and VI packages were sent to NVC on January 16th. Three days later we received a NVC letter stating:

We received electronic documentation for this case. Please allow up to 20 business days from the day the email was sent for the scanned attachments to be uploaded to the electronic case file and reviewed.

And then we waited patiently until January 29th when we received another NVC letter titled "xxx2013xxxxxxxx - checklist cover letter.pdf". The instruction part is as follows:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR: XXXX, XXXX(the beneficiant name)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

______PHOTOGRAPH:__________________________________________________

The NVC does not collect scanned images of the photographs required for each travelling applicant for

cases processing electronically.

Please be advised that you must provide two identical front-view color photographs with a white

background as required for each visa applicant at the time of the interview.

The photos must have the name of the person in the photo printed on the back along with the case

number associated with the person's photo.

You may download complete instructions by visiting:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/visaphotoreq/visaphotoreq_5334.html

Failure to provide the required photographs at the time of the interview will delay your case and

could cause re-scheduling of your interview or refusal of a visa.

I thought the NVC was asking for my scanned visa photos again but my hubby said this seemed to be a false checklist because we have already included two of my scanned visa photos in our sent IV package. and the instruction says NVC doesn't collect scanned image of visa photos for EP but only asks for two photos at the time of the interview. We decided to do nothing about the email. Two days later we got our scheduled interview day.

So one of my friends (also applying for CR1) received the same photo checklist on Jan 28th and I told them just to stay put, ignore the email and they might get their interview day within one or two days. Now it has been almost a week and they still get nothing...They start worrying and so do I. Perhaps they should send in the scanned visa photos AGAIN?

Does anyone choosing EP also get such an email from NVC?

A member 'Mrs Hogan' I think had the same issue with this very checklist about scanned photos and EP. I think all it eventually meant was to just come along with the photos to the actual interview. Hopefully I am not mixing up the nmaes and outcome here.

Speedwell, we opt-ined for EP(electronic proceeding) so both our AOS and IV packages(two PDF files to be exact) were sent electronically as required to NVC. My two actual identical visa photos were scanned and then put into the IV package PDF and yes, I am pretty sure the scanned images met all the requirements since we didn't do anything about it, and then in two days our case was completed at NVC and we got our interview day already.

Now what I worry about is my friend's case...I am not sure if that email was only a false checklist for me, or it's a false checklist for all...

I was surprised when someone told me only a few people use EP since it is available in only Guangzhou Consulate, China and Mortreal Consulate, Canada so far.

No problem. If i can dig up her post, will post it here for double reassurance or someone else comes up with similar outcome.

Like ndu said, there have been other members getting this "checklist". It's just a reminder saying to bring the photos with you to the interview. It's not an actual checklist. Although your friend can certainly call up and confirm.

Remember, just because you got your interview scheduled two days later, does not mean EVERYONE gets scheduled two days later. It's all about the backlog at the consulate/embassy.

Sounds great, Ndu.

I was surprised when someone told me only a few people use EP since it is available in only Guangzhou Consulate, China and Mortreal Consulate, Canada so far.

There are a LOT more place than just China and Canada that do EP now. Around 10 or so.

They do not collect passport size photos anymore for electronic processing. I was told this by a processor last Thursday. The photos are collected at the interview. Yes you were lucky if you got interview date so quickly. I emailed my scanned documents on December 7th only to have them lose the documents.

I resent everything and got a checklist letter on Thursday as well. I thought was a false checklist again as I have had 7 of them so far but this checklist actually asked for a new DS-230 application from me again. So I resent and hopefully within the next 20 days will get some positive news.

So far I am not convinced electronic processing is any faster than normal.Has not worked for me.

Good Luck

YEP, you got it! It just means that you need to bring the original photos with you to your interview. We have 3 applications (me and kids) and got the same notice. Just bring the originals to your interview. By opting in for EP we agree to provide originals at the interview, that includes photos.

wow . sinec dec 7th, yet to get case complete.that sounds kind of frustrating being an electronic format. They should probably dedicate some staff for electronic review and some for paper review.

hopefullly this last one will do it for you

I am the foreign spouse and my hubby is the USC.

We opt-ined for EP. Our AOS and VI packages were sent to NVC on January 16th. Three days later we received a NVC letter stating:

And then we waited patiently until January 29th when we received another NVC letter titled "xxx2013xxxxxxxx - checklist cover letter.pdf". The instruction part is as follows:

Does anyone choosing EP also get such an email from NVC?

when I was studying the EP stuff at travel.state.gov this weekend, there was a specific thing about these photos. It said they are collected at the IV unit. The wording of the email you got confirms that. Luckily, it's not holding up your case at all.

You're lucky, that's the only thing they've dinged you for. I think is procedural error on their part to even mention it, to even try to ding you, as it's clearly stated in the civil docs section of the DS-230 instructions online that these photos are to be collected at the IV unit.

Tell your buddies: Suggest your petitioner call into NVC today (they close at 23:59 EST) and see what's up. Note that usually you have to train the NVC Human a bit about EP, and they have to put you on hold to check with the supervisor.

Things to say:

1. Photo requirement is waived at NVC as this casefile starts with GZO. You need to remove the incomplete tag on my casefile and mark it complete, as NVC guidelines already state that these photos are collected at the IV unit when the casefile starts with GZO.

2. Is the case is final review?

3. When you you expect the 'documents complete' tag?

Good Luck !

Thanks Darnell. Very appreciated!

She called the NVC. They said they weren't aware of any ref and her case is still being reviewed. They didn't give her a definite answer of when...so she's waiting and has done nothing about that photo checklist.

I got this e-mail today. Our case was complete two days ago. I called NVC and they said it's just a reminder to bring the originals to the interview.
