Call NVC and get your case number. If you update your profile with the country your fiance is in, some fellow vj members from the same country can be of greater help.

But generally, the next step is waiting for the Packet 3 from the Embassy. However, if you request your case number from the NVC, you can contact the Embassy and request the forms by email as well (if you want a faster route.) But again, that depends on the Embassy. So once you update your profile, you can get better help! Good luck! :)

Packet 3 usually request these to be brought to the Interview/Embassy:

1. I-230 Part 1

2. DS-156 (Can only be done online)

3. DS-156K

4. DS-157

5. I-34 Affidavit of Support

a. Sponsor Files: Petitioner

b. Co-Sponsor Files: IF YOU HAVE A CO-SPONSOR

6. Letter of Intent to Marry

and some more!

Go to your fiance's country's US embassy site. They usually have information about K1 visas. Some embassies mail a packet 3 with forms, some just say you should download it on their site. If you can get the forms and instructions on the site, you can start filling those out. You won't be able to schedule an interview until they actually receive the petition from the NVC though, and at some embassies you must mail back some forms and then they'll assign you an interview date. It's all country-specific at this point.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

My sweetie lives in Jamaica.

I'm going to go to the Jamaican Embassy website and do a little investigation.

Six months to wait for this part to be over with was like being in hell.

Now, we can get a little excited, if you know what I mean (wink, wink).

Better days are ahead for us.

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Case Progress subforum. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Excuse my ignorance, but which of these forms do I fill out? The DS-156 is filled out by her, right. I know the I-34 is obviously done

by me. What are sponsor files? Is that the packet I sent to VSC? I send those to her in Jamaica? And what is an I-230? My goodness.

This will all be over, worth it soon.

We were approved (received the noa2). Now what do we do? I e-mailed the NVC this past weekend, requesting our case number. I have the affidavit of support done (waiting on a letter from HR).

Are we going to get a packet in the mail?

Help, please.

You should probably call the NVC instead. I sent an e-mail last week and never got a response, even thought that is their "preferred" method. I called today and got the date NVC received it, date left for embassy in Manila and Embassy (MNL) case #, though they seemed very annoyed (or just tired) to be on the phone with me. Took about 20 mins wait each time... called twice to confirm.

This *may not* be totally identical to what is required in your case, but...

You will fill out (her signature not required):

DS-157

I-134 Affidavit of Support (when mtcmk1 lists petitioner sponsor files, I believe he/she refers to the supporting documents for I-134, which were in our case:)

- 2010, 2011, 2012 Tax Returns (Form 1040/1040A) with W-2s and any Investment related docs for those years

- Previous three months' paychecks/paystubs

- Letter from employer on business letterhead, signed by supervisor and/or HR

- Misc. Bank, Investment and Retirement account overview scans

These forms/documents are to be signed and dated by her, but you can fill them or fill them together like we did:

DS-156 - page 2 after you generate it using the online system, #41, Applicant's Signature

DS-156K - fill form but leave bottom part blank to be signed by her later

DS-230 (part 1 required only) - page 2, after #35, Signature of Applicant

Fiancee Letter of Intent (the one dated closer to interview)

I don't know when you will get Packet 3, but try finding it online. Some can go to U.S. Embassy/Consulate General-specific information and get to Packet 3, but it has nothing for KNG - Kingston. I was able to get to the one for Manila that way.

In your binder/packet with all the new forms you send to her, you also want to include what you sent to the VSC for I-129F. I just put the copy of that stuff in the back of a binder behind all the new documents.

Tyler,

thank you for your response. I'm going to wait until Monday or Tuesday to see if I get the packet from

NVC in the mail. I have the letter from my employer, and the bank is working on the financial paperwork.

I think with this process, patient really does pay off.

Hi everyone,

I hate to sound stupid, but after our approval, are we supposed to get something

from the NVC?

We went through some ####### with the Vermont Service Center: We were approved, but then they

told us they couldn't find our notice. I had to scan it, send it to them. We waited

for three weeks, and nothing. Finally, I called my Congressional Representative (she's

been keeping track of this whole thing), and she called NVC. So now instead of being

approved in late January, we have an approval date of 26 Feb.

I have almost all the documents ready to send to her, but are we supposed to get a

"packet" from NVC?

We will be so happy when this is over with.

Thanks for your help.
