She is of course permitted to travel, to visit places, but not to move out of the US or she gives up her GC. She can't travel while waiting for the GC unles she has AP (Advanced parole) which you file for free with AOS, and she can't work unless you file for the EAD (Employment Authorization Document) which is also free with AOS.

The first GC is only valid for 2 years. Sometime in the 90 days before it expires you file form I-751 (Removal of Conditions or, ROC). This MUST be done. If she gets the ROC/I-751 approved (most people do) then she get the 10 year card (most people do).

For ROC you need to start collecting evidence of your marriage. Joint bank accounts, thing showing the same address etc etc. There's a forum dedicated to what you need. Most of us start collecting it as soon as we arrive. You might need some for her to get the 2 year card approved and will DEFINITELY need it for the 10 year.

that is not true. whether your wife got two or ten green card, she can travel anywhere she wants and can return to the States without any problem. If she got a two green card, which is also called conditional green card, you have to submit a form to remove the condition on your two year marriage anniversary. the two year green card is giving when if during the AOS, your marriage is less than two years old.

Vanessa has given a good overview. You can also read the first post in this thread and get some ideas from the paragraph that talks about ROC:

(Organizer hat on)

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process to Working & Traveling forum -- OP is within this stage and topic involves traveling. ***
