Does anyone know what the percentage of people that take a K 1 visa physical at St. Lukes Medical, IS TURNED DOWN, can I have some guesses or maybe someone has a factual number. The reason I ask is my fiance is traveling to Manila today, her medical is Thursday and Friday! Opinions, or a very knowledgable gues would be appreciated, as I am "walking the floor, wringing my hands" at this time!!!!

I don't have any idea about this. I think you should post it in the K1-K3 forum. You'll have more like minded eyeballs. Or try the I130 forum.

Relax! Everything is going to be ok!

In the past year I can only remember a few people having to take additional tests after undergoing treatment if the TB test isn't good. This is just from my observation of the forums and in no way a statement of factual data.

Even so,,, relax, everything will be fine!

Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate people like you!!! Last week, I sent my fiance to an independent lab, and got a chest x-ray, and had it read by a But, this waiting is very stressful, after 6 and 1/2 months of waiting!

ya, the majority of medical time-slippage is related to tuberculosis and sputum testing. If'n she's clear, from the independent testing facility, then she'll be clear again at St. Lukes, aye?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Almost everyone makes it through the medical...some just take longer than others...as in the TB culture cases.

I've even seen a couple of people here on VJ who passed the medical and got a visa at the USEM even though they admitted to past illegal drug use.

However, I'm wondering how your fiancée plans on being admitted into St. Lukes without an interview appointment confirmation printout nor a copy of your NVC letter showing your MNL case number.

OK...I see that you already received an email from the NVC. Now you have your MNL case number. That's a good thing. Your fiancée should have no problem being admitted into St. Lukes for her medical.

You sure got your MNL case number fast!

My fiancee just completed hers yesterday tues. Jan 15th

Piece of cake!

She arrived at St Lukes early Monday morning and was finished about noon

She returned on Tuesday for her shots at 8:30 and was finished by 9:00!

She just arrived at her home about 3 hours ago VERY happy!

Will return to Manila on the 28th for her interview on the 29th

She stayed at the Lotus Garden. Very nice good price clean & good food!

I honestly don't recall anyone being 'turned down'. The medical is not looking for an excuse to deny anyone. The problem that usually comes out of it, is if they see something in the X-ray to indicate TB, past or present, and that requires a wait, and sometimes it can be up to 3 months. But even that, the people make it through, and that seems like quite a small percentage. I think there are very few things that would constitute a denial outright, maybe HIV+ or something. I think active Hepatitis requires treatment before coming here too, but again, those don't get 'denied'.

So we were all nervous about the medical, and the only thing that really sucks is that it takes a long day or two of waiting and tests and all that. But I wouldn't worry. If you already had an X-ray done, you shouldn't have any problems at all.

Make sure she can document when her last period was, and if she's been sexually active since, because if they think there is any chance she's pregnant they won't do the X-ray and it will cause delays.

They will not accept outside results, it has to be done at St Luke... Thats included in the fees you pay for it, TB treatment is different story,if the private doctor discover that the person is positive and he or she already started the treatment then they will resume the treatment but that person has to provide the documents and it will takes a total of 6 months for the treatment before they approve the visa.
