Back to work today and somewhat hurting from yesterday's celebration. It still hasn't sunk in yet that I'm done with the USCIS for 21 months.

They just changed our status to say that they are mailing the EAD card. LOL I think we may receive it a day or two before the GC.

We had a very good experience in Santa Ana. For the K-1 interview in Vancouver we had to wait 2 hours and it was very crowded. This place wasn't very busy at all. We turned in our appointment letter and were told to sit and wait. 20 minutes later they called Jordan's name. We were sworn in and the first question was "So...what did you do last weekend" This caught us a bit off guard but we soon both answered and then he just asked more casual questions, almost like making small talk. Very relaxed. Jordan then had to answer all the I-485 questions. Then the guy asked what we had planned for the rest of the day and I replied "hopefully celebrating" and Jordan say "we don't want to be presumptuous" and then the guy said "oh, don't worry, you are already approved" WHEW! He then asked what else we had to show him and I hauled out our pile of evidence. He looked at all of it and made copies of a lot of it. Guess they need the stuff for our file.

He explained that those adjusting from K-1's are usually a slam dunk (probably said in different words). He said we just want to make sure you got married in the 90 days.

So that was it! In and out in just 40 minutes.

THIS QUESTION IS FOR EVERYBODY .. (I've got my interview in 2 weeks)

I understand what to bring, whatever they ask for on the appt. letter, but should I bring anything else?

Do I need to haul over ALL the paperwork ever sent over the past year+?

I know... silly questions, as the appt. letter doesn't ask for EVERYTHING you've ever sent...Appt. letter, basically says to bring 'information/evidence/original documents...' pertaining to the i-485 application.

*I have to fly from MAUI to OAHU,Honolulu for the interview, trying to keep my bags to minimum, just carry on, if I can*.

Meeting my husband there, he's coming from work. (haven't see each other in over a month)

Staying 4 nights, he surprised me with a mini-vacation. I'm determined to NOT check any bags.

I have to bring a huge empty duffle bag for my husband, which takes up 1/2 of my little carryon. BOO..

I'm almost packed for the vacation, with the exception of toiletries. ...lol...they can take up the most room!

Just need some reassurance that I'm bringing all the right stuff, for the interview.

We just got back from our interview in San Francisco. She gave us this paper after about 10 minutes going thru questions and few photos:

I-485 Adjustment of Status Interview Results

On April 3, 2013, you were interviewed by USCIS Officer X.

Checked Box. Congratulations, your adjustment of status has been approved.

Our preparation:

Followed the interview letter instructions. Brought with us originals and copies of supporting documents and about 30 pictures of us and family.

To be safe, we also brought with us I-129F and I-485 packages. From this forum, we know that questions in I-485 will be asked so we went over them the night before.

My wife's English is not fluent but I need she will do fine so we didn't need an interpreter.

Interview day:

Took public transit to San Francisco. We stopped Starbucks a block away so my wife can relax a little bit. Asked her to have coffee and sweet but she said she will get sick if she eat.

With 20 minutes before the interview, we walked to the building. Greeted by a security guard with a smile and asked us for the interview letter and ID's outside the building. Got inside and went thru the x-ray machine. Security guard told us: people need not to be nervous. Went 2nd floor and turned in interview letter and told to wait in section B. At this point my wife still feel nervous and little bit sick. Told her to worry too much. If we are not approved, we will get another interview. She got a little bit better.

There were only 3 couples before us in Section B. We were called in and met a lady. First thing she asked my wife was: do you speak English. My wife answered little bit then we and took the oat in her office. Asked to see her passport and my ID(driver license)and a copy of our marriage certificate. She also is our address is correct.

Here are some of her questions:

1. First time marriage for both of us?

2. Any children in the US or back home?

3. then she asked some of the questions in I-485 form.

4. do we have pictures with family? Who's in the pictures? She only went thru about 3 photos.

5. do our family know each other before we met?

Didn't ask for any other document like joint bank account, lease, etc... which we also have.

She asked my wife to sign a paper which we didn't even know what that is.

Then she put another paper out which is an approved letter to take with us and told us we are approved but the computer will check our records again before my wife gets her GC.

Told us to expect a GC in the mail about 1 to 4 weeks.

The immigration officer was very nice. She knows my wife English is not fluent so she asked every questions slowly and clearly. The night before I also told my wife I she does not understand a question, just ask the IO to repeat and that what she did for one of the questions showing she understood the question before she answered.
