Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Dallas
POE Date : 2012-11-22
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : I wouldn't say harassment, just not mindful of the people waiting. After traveling for 25 hours and waiting in line for 2 hours, my now husband was sick and he was extremely tired and the officer started asking him a bunch of questions like, "Do you know who petitioned you?" and my husband finally just told him how sick and physically tired he was after traveling so long and the officer said sorry and let him go. He was one of the last people out of customs at that time and arrived on Thanksgiving Day.

Consulate Review: Kuwait
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 16, 2012
Embassy Review : Luckily we went over VJ consular interview questions because they were basically the same. I told my fiance they might try and trick you by saying something wrong and seeing if you corrected them. I told him they will call me your wife or get dates mixed up. Well they did that - called me his wife, tried to mix up the dates of my trips and saying stuff like how it was nice my mom came to visit on my second (not third) trip - but he corrected them each time.

*Side note* The interviewer was training someone else so she put her hand over the microphone and said to the trainee that she was trying to trip him up to make sure he was real, but he was doing good with all the answers. Well, he could hear her say all that and told her as much when she came back on. She laughed, thought it was funny and said okay no more of that.

She was initially confused by him because he has Iranian citizenship so she asked if he needed a Farsi translator and he said no, he doesn\\\'t know Farsi. She then asked if he was Christian and how did he have Iranian citizenship. He can\\\'t remember everything they asked, but they asked all the basics (my house, salary, job, parents, sibling, previous marriage/divorce). She asked a lot about my dad and why he didn\\\'t come to Kuwait for a visit with my mom (he answered it is expensive, so not possible for both). She asked what my parents think of him, what his parents think of me. How does he relate to my dad, do they talk, etc. She asked how did we have a joint bank account here in the states if he has never been here (he said our bank offers international banking services). She said to the trainee she was supposed to ask what kind of car I drove and my mother\\\'s name, but she knew he would know all that so wasn\'t going to bother with the questions. She asked him what was the last gift he bought me, but he couldn\'t remember exactly the last one. He told her that, but did tell her some of the gifts he has bought me over time. She complimented him on our paperwork organization and showed the trainee my financials saying I did a good job provided everything requested and that everything looked perfect. She liked looking at our pictures and commented on them. He said she was nice, but firm and lightened up near the end. He said he understands she has a job to do so he knows why he had to answer all the questions, but at least she was nice and friendly about it.

She told him he was definitely approved (didn\\\'t say that to any of the other people) but they were waiting for an internal check to be complete before issuing the visa. Maybe another week or two (let\\\'s hope not much longer than that). She told him to tell his fiancee he was \\\"provisionally approved.\\\" They kept his passport. She only gave him a copy of it with a DHL ticket stub stapled to it so he could bring it back the next day (DHL window was closed) to make arrangements to deliver his visa.

DHL called 10/18/12 to say they are deliverying package, called Dept of State and they confirmed visa was issued 10/17/12 (2 days after interview). That is how we found out he was officially approved.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
