We had one such bozo here in the Tampa Bay area - the sicko is going away for a long time.

Tampa Teen Sentenced to 15 years for Freedom High Bomb Threat

Gotta have these kids know that even just thinking about sick ####### like that will end your life as you know it and get you an extended stay in the state's facilities.

Man, what a stupid thing to waste 15 years of your life over. Not that I feel sorry for him at all.

I remember the good ol' days (pre-Newtown) when if you threatened to do something like this the FBI tried to entrap you into buying explosives and then arrested you!

Ever since Huggy Bear retired, that whole snitching and entrapment deal has gone by the wayside.

Sammie Eaglebear Chavez, 18, revealed to friends at Bartlesville High School that he wanted to lure classmates and teachers to the gym and then open fire. He also claimed to have explosives that he planned to detonate once cops arrived.

A classmate overheard Chavez talking about his plan on Thursday, and he was arrested on early Friday before he was able to carry out his plan. A judge ordered that Chavez be held on $1 million bail.

Police believe Chavez owned a Colt .45 handgun and had been researching how to obtain explosives and higher powered firearm. He also frequently discussed the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School.

I have to ask. So if someone over heard me talking about robbing a bank, they can throw you in jail.. I agree action needed to be taken, but what law has he broken ?

If you had laid out a plan to do so, then by all means, you should be taken into custody. This kid was fairly serious about his plan, considering he was doing all the research necessary to obtain what he needed.

i hung out with the druggie crowd in highschool. we scored our pot from the rich kids, which helped them fund their coke parties.there are kids who look like 'druggies' and then there are the kids who look like upstanding young citizens, football players, cheerleaders, etc. and those are the kids who have access to the best drugs and were more capable of keeping their habits secret because adults rarely questioned them. you should never judge a book by its cover, pretty much always true.

Yeah, remember seeing him crying when they read him the sentence. Was mumbling about that being not fair because he was hoping that he'd get a chance to make things right and make his family proud and all. Something to think about before you make plans to blow up your school. Can't be lenient on these fellas. It's gotta be clear to everyone that just considering such a monstrosity will get you in the slammer for a good long while.

I know if they hear you talking about it with another person, it's conspiracy.

Conspiracy to commit a crime is a chargable offense. You usually have to take action to be charged but not always. (ie. talking about robbing a bank and then taking an action such as buying ski masks, or writing down a time or plan etc.)

As I stated before, even though Ajay facepalmed it, there has to be 2 people involved before it can be considered a conspiracy.

In criminal law, a conspiracy is an agreement between two or more persons to commit a crime at some time in the future.

Sorry laying out a plan to rob a bank is not a crime, acting on it is

So in this situation, nothing should have been done? And then if he goes ahead and acts out this plan and kills a few dozen people, then what? We look for the "early warning signs" that something wasn't right with this kid, we see he'd literally spelled out what he was going to do, and it got ignored.
